the nba just released a statement that deron williams has been named western conference player of the week. Fellow points guard derrick rose was named the eastern conference player of the week.

Deron put up 24.4 & 10.8 over the week in addition to 4.8 rebounds a game. No doubt the four-game sweep of the heat, magic, hawks, and bobcats played a large part of the award.

Deron struggled in the first half of those games but led the charge in the second half of each of those comebacks. Here are the numbers he put up in the second half of those games:

19 & 12 - miami
24 & 10 - orlando
17 & 5 - atlanta
14 & 6 - charlotte

deron was last named western conference player of the week last december when the jazz took out the lakers, spurs, and magic.

the most impressive of his stats are that they came w/ bigger guards, guarding him !!

Exactly. Not that he still won't overpower smaller PG's, but are opponents still sure size is the best way to try and defend Deron?
The Heat put LeBron and Wade on him. Magic stuck with Nelson. Hawks went with Joe Johnson. The Bobcats tried Stephen Jackson. 6-8 250, 6-4 212, 6-0 190, 6-8 230 and 6-8 220. Something to keep an eye on tonight because the Thunder switched Thabo Sefalosha onto Deron last year and he burned them with 42 and 10 including the game-winner.

He deserved, congratulations. He is leader + big shot maker of the team now. Big load but he have overcome not only this but also the team's offensive struggles caused by unfamiliarity of new additions to the system. Last week Chrissy this week our man Deron. Looks like a week full of same ol' comparisons ahead.

I'd be more impressed if it came against small, quick guards. Deron struggles with speed, not length.

But most contenders don't have those small, quick guards that give Deron some problems on defense:

Lakers - Fisher and Blake
Heat - Arroyo
Celtics - Rondo - quick but Deron can match up
Spurs - Parker - ditto
Mavs - Kidd and Terry
Nuggs - Billups but Lawson has given Deron problems
Magic - Nelson
And rather oddly, Deron matches up very well against CP3's quickness

Some of these contenders will, like Charlotte with Stephen Jackson most recently, try to match up a bigger player vs Deron and that he hasn't had that much of a problem with that is another good thing about this run.

When will the NBA realize that Deron is a bad leader that is out of shape, injured, and overrated? I mean, he's no Brandon Roy or anything.

You guys want to know how I know Deron is in such pitiful shape? He's not built like Corey Maggette/Dwight Howard/Jesus Christ and the Jazz lost 3 games. It's science.
