The Jazz are engaged in ongoing discussions with the camps of small forward Andrei Kirilenko and point guard Earl Watson, their agents told the Deseret News on Monday.

General manager Kevin O'Connor confirmed that he reached out to the former Jazz players on the team-owned radio station, 1320 KFAN.

The downside AK coming back- no, no no!

The upside we should be able to get a quick start with everyone coming back. Maybe that can propel us into the playoffs.

Obviously I'm an AK homer, but I wouldn't be sad to see AK come back to the Jazz at around 4-5 million a year. I know he would get better offers from other teams, but he better give us a hometown discount AND a break considering the Jazz overpaying him the last 5 years.

I read on hoopshype that AK has been contacted by about 10 teams so far.. I have a feeling that someone will throw a big offer at him. I would be shocked if we resigned him at this point.

I think someone will probably offer him $10M per, for three years, with the third an option year. He's worth with it for a team that fits his skills.

I think that the Jazz would offer him that, too. The question would end up being whether he wants a new start or a better chance at contention--or whether he feels like he owes it to the Jazz or is more comfortable in the Jazz system (i.e., with a new coach), even with a couple of promising young wings breathing down his neck.

Is his wife's clothing store still operating in SLC :|?

You really think the Jazz will offer him 10 mil a year?

We are at 55.614 according to Hoopshype with 9 players.

Assuming Burks contract is roughly the same amount as Hayward's (2.53 mil/year) and Favors' is close to Kanter's (4.43 mil/year) we are at 62.574 mil and over the salary cap. That gives us 11 players.

We need 13 players at a minimum. Say Watson signs for the vet's minimum about 1.2 mil. 63.774 is our new total.

AK's 10 mil would put us are 73.774 mil and likely over the luxury tax. I have head guess of 70 mil as the luxury tax level.

IMO if we resign AK it will be just above the mid level expection IMO. Which would be 5.5 mil to 6 mil a year.

If someone offers him more than that we should let him go.

To paraphrase Rick Perry, "Oops."

I thought I had read $10 million total for 3 years.

Chances are he'll get close to the MLE IMHO, from Utah or someone else.

I support the Jazz not giving AK anywhere close to $10 million per--
and I support another team bloating their payroll with a near-eight-figure deal for him :).

Amnesty for Bell would save us about 3 million and then sign AK for around 7 million should keep us under the LT. Still doable. Also looks like we are very active in trade market and that could end up saving us some dough as well. I think clearly if we want to win games this year the Jazz FO knows we need to be better at the wing position.

This is exactly what is going to happen, and no one should be surprised by it. AK is worth $10 mill a year to the right team. But for hells sake, not to us. If KOC brings him back at anything more than $4-$5 mill he should be run out of town.

Tearing it up in Russia? Who gives a ish? It's Russia. Isn't Adam Morrison tearing it up over there to? Doesn't mean anything. if he's making more than 4-5M let it be somehwere else. russia for all I care. Just because Kapono makes mroe then 4M doesn't mean he's worth it. look what AK has made the last few years, was he "worth it?"

AK will get a deal bigger than the Jazz are willing to offer from a team looking to make a splash after they miss out on Nene, Chandler, and Marc Gasol.

Brilliant dude. Clearly he is not worth 17 million. But 7 million absolutely.

boy, you have really no clue who is worth what in todays NBA right? Jason Kapono last year made more then 4mil.. for your information..

JSL is actually right, Jason Kapono is NOT worth 4 million. In fact, he is a free gent if Im not mistaken, and the Lakers wanna sign him for 1.3 million a year. There goes your comparison. Better luck next time.

For the record, for most NBA teams I would slot AK's worth around 8 million. For a team that gave him a max contract for several years like the Jazz, I would expect AK to give us a serious Hometown discount. Anything more than 5 million is a ripoff.

I certainly agree that AK should give us a discount, but not sure he would give up around 10 million for 3 years to sign in Utah
