Would you spend a bag for Devin Booker?

Turns 28 at the start of the next season. He has 4 more years on his deal.

Clear cut top 10 player imo.

His team sucks and has no future. It kind of reminds me of the Jazz getting stomped by Dallas. Luckily Utah pulled the plug and got great assets. Will the Suns be as smart? I dont think they own their own picks, so they are kind of ****ed.

He just put out a signature shoe and is seemingly Nike's top signature athlete relatively soon w/ James/KD's careers winding down. Might make it hard to get him to agree to come to a small market.

Given the amount of years left on his deal, he is probably worth 4 first round picks and a young player or two.

It's probably a year early. Another year of Utah consolidating some assets and figuring out the roster and another year of Suns sucking this might be the trade in the 2025 off-season.

Hypothetical: you kept Gobert but traded Mitchell. You kept Lauri and sent the balance (plus our own draft assets, if necessary) to Phoenix for Booker.

I don't think we have the type of complementary players that you would want to surround Booker and Lauri with, but obviously it's a lot easier to get those guys vs getting a Booker. If he became available we should definitely go after him, but like you said, we aren't quite ready for that as currently constructed.

Then Minnesota wouldnt be kicking teh **** out of Phoenix and this wouldnt be a discussion.

I also dont think Phoenix is quite ready to pull the plug yet. They need another embarrassing first round exit.

"It's probably a year early." That's my thoughts on this too.

Yes. I would offer 3 firsts, Collins, and their choice of anyone else not named Laui or Keyonte up to the amount needed to make the trade work.

No, we statistically the worst team in the NBA after the trade deadline. We'd still be horrible even with booker. He doesn't change our garbage defense

Phoenix will move him last. I suspect KD will be the first to jump ship (unfortunately its kind of his thing) unless they can convince Beal to waive his no trade clause.

Say Beal wants out and Suns just want so rotation players to help fill out the roster. Would you do Collins/Clarkson for Beal? 31 next season... 3 years 160M. If he is good and healthy you have a couple pieces to build. If he is hurt you end up tanking but do have a 3 year financial noose.

I think he would only waive the no trade for somewhere he liked a lot but maybe he just wants to get out and prove he is still a good player.

You would have to consider him one of the top guys to get, of course we should go after him if he becomes available. He would cost similar to the Mitchell package, but that's the cost of getting a super premium player under contract. If PHO wants Keyonte, he can be a part of that deal as well.

I would instead put up a couple more picks, or whatever the cost, for Lavine than go for Beal.

I would not trade for Beal. He's definitely still good, but I dont trust his health and even fully healthy he isnt close to worth his contract.

The Jazz would not be horrible with Booker and you can trade for Booker and still have plenty of assets for another star trade or many rotation player trades.

Absolutely. But he's obviously going to a big market so it ain't happening.
