2011 draft was pretty average, I would probably rank them:
1. Kyrie
2. Faried
3. Klay
4. Kanter
5. Burks/Kawhai
I think --
Kyrie
Kanter/Valanciunas
K. Thompson
Burks
Kawhai
T. Thompson

Vonleh definitely seems to be grouped in the top 8, but I wouldn't be able to get excited about that pick. I just wouldn't.
Exactly.
He's just one of those "going through the motion" type pick IMO. He's certainly got a lot of potential, but I just don't see him having an elite skill at the next level.
To me he's kinda like the "Thomas Robinson" of the 2012 pick. Seems like a safe pick at the time, but just a bit 'meh' at the end of the day.
I don't see it.
My "Diamond n da Ruff" nominations:
-Kyle Anderson
-STAUSKAS
-Zach LaVine
-McD
-Saric
-Nurkic
Prob others, but that's who immediately comes to mind.
Zach Lavine, Elfrid Payton, Noah Vinleh, Chris Walker, etc. all have some wow factor to their game, but something else that holds you back from saying they're sure things.
If we end up 8th, Jazz better not pick safe. We need upgrades at the point, and wing positions the most.
If I were the Jazz and picking 8th, I would see if I could trade up a couple spots.
If we're really stuck picking 8th, I think we should get a shooter, I mean a real shooter--McBuckets, Stauskas, Harris...
What's the story on Mario Hezonja?
-----------------------------------------------------------------------
My picks would be:
- Kyle Anderson (great 3pt shooter, playmaker, feel for the game)
Not a good fit. His skills would be too redundant to Hayward and Burke. We need a guy who can score 16-20 ppg.
- Aaron Harrison (clutch genes)
If he does it again tonight I'm down, otherwise would pass and take my chance he's there with the GS pick.
- Nickkkk Stauskus (knock-down shooter)
A reach but he brings two things the Jazz need. Shooting and some swag.
- Willie Cauley-Stein (true 7 footer, athletic pivot/shot-blocker)
Just not a good enough center specimen to pick with Favors and Gobert on board.
Thoughts????
let's just trade burke for stauskas or a pick to get him
Vonleh is probably the safest choice at 8. You get a physical specimen similar to Favors that is a little more PF oriented with a possible 3 point shot. Stauskas would be next on the list.
Burke put up 24 pts and 15 assists last night. We haven't had a point guard who can do that since DWill left. Not sure if DWill ever did that as a rookie.
