He is down nearly across the board in stats, with more TOs, moderately more assists (4.4 last year, 4.9 this year), and his 3 pt% is higher. I do not think we can continue using the argument that he is now suddenly the focal point of the defense, that happened with game scouting in his 2nd year. He struggles to finish at the rim, seemingly he has dropped off on this stat each year since his rookie year when he appeared to be a backboard savant the way he was able to get shots from the most ludicrous angles to drop through the hoop. Now he clanks it seemingly as often as not. In fact his overall FG% is the lowest of his career at .431, while his 3pt% is the highest at .395. His scoring average is the lowest since his rookie year, at 23.4 And his defensive box +/- is the worst of his career at -1.6. After the performance of the team in his first missed game this season, it begs the question, how critical is he to our success and is he dropping off or just hitting a mid-career slump?

Seriously the most worrisome thing to me is how he seems unable to get to the rim and finish the way he did as a rookie or even in the past 2 seasons. He seems out of control and can't find the touch. He has even missed many gimmes that then Clarkson turns around and replicates almost exactly with much better results. Are we seeing his limitations as a player, or is it just a rough patch?

I'm not worried about him.

His rough start is affecting his averages. He's changing up the way he plays I think, and is better recently than he's ever been to my eyes. Defensive effort looks good and he's got a bit of James Harden flair to his passing, which will eventually pan out.

He played lousy the first 8 games but has looked great the last ten
What are his stats for first 8 and last ten?

No

Nope... started slow. He's still young. Has some improving trends with shot selection... patience. Someday he might be as good as Jordan Clarkson (I'm kidding relax).
Don't ever expect him to be as good as clarkson. That's a pipe dream.

You frame all this as if it he is wildly in career low territory....

His FG is career low at .431, his previous career low was .432 in 2019 and .437 before that
His career high of 3.1 TOs is slightly more than his previous career marks of 2.8, 2.7, and 2.7
his scoring (23.4) is again (slightly) down from 23.8 and 24.0....

On top of overstating his deficiencies, you're also framing his increases, such as his assist jump from 4.4 to 4.9 (11% increase), or his increase in 3Pt% from .366 to .395, (an 8% increase), as "moderate", while framing the more negligible percentage drop in FG% and scoring as career defining...

If you want to frame it that way, he's also playing a career low in minutes and taking the fewest amount of shots since his rookie year while taking (and making) a significantly higher amount of threes (the best shot in basketball minus the freethrow) while scoring roughly the same amount of points, his fouls are at an all time low, his blocks are an all time high, his team is better than they ever have been, and his OBPM of 2.3 is nearly identical to his previous career high of 2.4. And these are all including his abysmal start.

his 2nd half of played games (9-17) he's at:
25.2 ppg, 5.0 rebs, 4.8 ast on .482 / .466 / .875 shooting...

I do no such thing. I frame it as if he has plateaued, which the data certainly supports.
