Did we take any steps back defensively?

Generally, when your offense improves dramatically, your defense also improves as a result of a better mental disposition from scoring more. Guys will just put forth more effort on defense when they see there shots dropping and the score going up and up and up!

Also. . . the Jazz have Rudy Gobert, Conley, Mitchell, Jingles, Exum and O’Neale - who’ve all shown at some point that they can be plus defenders. Snyder and Jensen will do a great job painting with that canvas.

Also take into account with better offense (more made baskets, less turnovers) comes better defense. It allows us to set up more.

Or does good defense lead to good offense?

Or both?

More broadly, is there any correlation between good offense and good defense?

Asking a stats guy.

For a friend.

Conley is the king of not turning the ball over, almost to a fault. I forsee far fewer easy fast breaks the other way for the opponent.

I for one really think our defensive switchability gonna be way higher than last year. This year roster being better constructed into this direction makes me think that it's part of the plan.

Only using an old school traditional 4 when needed because of some certain matchup may help too.

Bogdanovic also is faster and stronger than Ingles, Green, and especially O'Neale, are faster players than Faves, even putting the turnovers and shooting out of the equation, we may be better at running back to defense

I think we did take a step back defensively but it was worth it. Would still like one more big who can play D.

Found this tweet and needed place to post so figured I’d bump here:

I haven’t looked too deeply into what goes in to defensive win shares, but we have 6 guys in the top 20:

1. Rudy.
2. Donovan.
6. Ingles.
10. O’Neale.
15. Conley.
20. Bogdanovic.
