Sorry for sounding dumb (i am currently statting to feel teh effects of teh ambien... a transformatiin of sorts from shishonjazz to ambionjazz) but i must ask again.... are you saying that a utah budweiser has the same amount of get-me-drunk in it as a budweiser from nevada or wyoming ect ect?

No, typical Budweiser has 5%abv, so it still has more than the stuff in UT, but it's not as big a difference as the 3.2% to 5% most people assume. But bud light is at 4.2%abv in most places, so the difference there is pretty small.

I'm actually a fan of beer math, so it's pretty easy to find out exactly how much alcohol is in a given beverage.

Here's the math:

abv * oz = how much get me drunk juice there is

so, a 12oz 5%abv beer is: 0.05 * 12 = 0.6oz of ethanol (get me drunk juice)

1.5oz of 40%abv liquor is: 1.5 * 0.4 = 0.6oz of ethanol

quick breakdown of beer abv to how much alcohol there is in a 12oz serving:

3% = 0.36oz

4% = 0.48oz

5% = 0.6oz

6% = 0.72oz

7% = 0.84oz

8% = 0.96oz

9% = 1.08oz

10% = 1.2oz

11% = 1.32oz

12% = 1.44oz

Most beer I make is between 6 -7% But I'm looking to make a Russian Imperial Stout at around 10% and Double (Imperial) IPA at 9%

Question of curiosity, can beer be distilled to further increase the final alcohol volume?

Yes. Freeze distillation is used to produce a true Eisbock where the beer is partially frozen and the ice chucks are removed to leave a more concentrated beer. This can be done progressively to get a rather strong beer, but you still won't get into the range of liquor abv unless you have very specialized equipment.

To make whiskey you pretty much make wort (what beer comes from, in distillation this is called the mash) without filtering the wort from the grains and then heat distilling it. As far as I know there is no beer made from or enhanced through heat distillation.
