whoah, way too much math for midnight.

Let's see, we traded a starting guard who wasn't getting starting minutes along with two players who weren't even under contract for a starter quality guard and a small forward who is just entering his prime.

Not bad.

Here's my perspective of the team from last year

PG- Probably about the same. I don't think Mo Williams comes in and lights things on fire, but he won't have to. As long as he hits open 3's, thats what we need from him.
SG- Better by subtraction. No CJ, no Bell, which means more minutes for Burks. If we get post allstar break Hayward all season, much better.
SF- Our best SF was an undrafted rookie... (if you don't count Hayward) Williams is a big improvement. Carrolle should improve as well.
PF- This depends on Favors improvement and playing time. I wish we could get Milsap to come off the bench, he would dominate, and would be the #1 scoring option without AJ being a black hole.
C- Kanters improvement as the backup should be enough to consider it an improvement. If AJ is traded, its probably a step back, but I think we'd make 2 steps forward for 2013-2014.

I'm not convinced that Mo Williams is that much better than Harris. I think he can be though. What he gives us is a legitimate starting PG so we could trade Harris and get an actual SF,

We have no majpr upgrades .. but where we may be slightly better comes in shooting and chemistry .. COULD be meaningful.

Wasn't it the OP that thought our biggest need was outside shooting?

Mo
Marvin
Kevin Jones

Notice a pattern?

And who's to say that Corbin might not come back a little better as a coach this year? Maybe we can run something other than ISO for Jefferson once in a while for giggles.

Myself I want a PG that can run the PnR. I havent' gotten my wish yet. But, maybe we'll see some Hayward/Favors PnR ran this year.

I thought I was noticing a pattern and then the game switched to "One of these things is not like the other."

Who is this Kevin Jones you speak of?

Didn't he play running back for the Detroit Lions not too long ago?

I would like to point out that this is the nail in the coffin for CJ and Howard. That is a improvement by itself.

Well

Mo > Harris
Marvin >> Howard

So by common sense yes, you don't need a poll to figure that out.

I think they make us better but I think the way you look at it is all wrong.

I think this evens the Jazz out a little more and will help our bigs. That is why this makes the Jazz a better team.

As long as they both stay healthy then we should be better. Not sure Marvin has great competitive drive though... he seems to play with that "I do not care" look a lot.

I voted yes, mostly because I think these two have the type of attitudes that Utah was sorely missing.

Utah knows Mo Williams well. The guy has fire. While I think you'd have to classify Devin Harris as a better all-around PG, the dude was very passive with his on court presence. That will not be the case with Mo. The guys a warrior, he brings an element of toughness that Harris did not have, and he can hit the 3. I also like the fact that he won quite a bit of games in Cleveland as the 2nd biggest name on the roster next to Lebron. Love, love, love the addition.

IMO Marvin Williams is a bit more scrappy than he gets credit for. Just against the Jazz alone I can recall 3 or 4 games in which he was getting into some type of alteraction with a Jazz man. I think he even got into a little to-do with a Jazz man during a Rocky Mtn. Revue game early in his career. I think the kid kinda got lost in the mix of the being a #2 overall pick with high expectations on a team that was always using him as a 3rd or 4th option. Maybe he didn't deserve to be the first or second option, and maybe the kid doesn't have much growth left, but I like what he brings to the table as-is and I'm willing to take the gamble of giving up Devin Harris to see if there's a little bit more to his game than we've seen so far.
