What's new

Do you Remember?

I was hoping for Shandon Anderson, myself. Maybe kdc's friend can write that one.

LMAO, Time for some truth for yall Jazz fans
Stockton and Malone- Both HOFers in this game enough said
DWILL & Boozer- both former all star players, NOT HOFers but all stars at one point in career
Hayward and Gobert- Well they are neither so maybe that's the problem trying to compare them to these other two tandems... HJayward is a good player but he isn't an allstar and I doubt he ever is.

So the problem is a decline in talent if anything.. Sure you can use the supporting cast as an excuse but really truth is great players make those around them better.
Truth hurts sometimes but the truth always needs to be known.

Love this thread. Contender for thread of the year!

However, you forgot to mention Starks busted a nut while here and had it removed.

Our esteemed #16 in the draft, Kirk Snyder. Snyder did not get a lot of playing time under coach Sloan and was traded after just one season. He has since be come a little "looney". He was arrested for breaking into a friends house and assaulting him, after which he pleaded insanity. He time in a mental hospital being spoon fed, and served 3 years in jail. After that, he got a "second" chance and joined a team in Canada. Maybe if we had used him more his life would have been a little different.

The one, the only, Bryon Russell!! Everybody remembers Russell the famous push off/tripping in the finals. This tenacious defender averaged around 1 assist and as many as 14 points in his years playing for the Jazz. Fun fact, Russell icecream has nothing to do with him, even though a young me thought it did and that's why they served it in the arena  Anywho, he was a great assett for the Jazz. We are still awaiting the epic rematch between him and Jordan.

Aleksander Radojevic, this 7'3" injury riddled giant played 12 games, starting 6, for us back in 2004 before shipping himself back to overseas basketball. This was 4 times as many NBA games as he had played since declaring for the draft in 1999. Such a large player should have been able to score points in his sleep, but this unfortunate soul only averaged 1.6 in his 12 games. ps. Look how tiny Arroyo looks

Roger Powell, one of Deron's Illi buddies, barely squeaked onto the team in 2006 where he joined Dee Brown (another Illi buddy) and stuck around until the Jazz released him in January. He scored his first NBA point with a free throw in November (he made 2). These were his only two NBA points ever, and they were marvelous. Hey, he scored more than that Amundsen guy. And with guns like these, you'd really have expected more.

The best, is saved for last of this post. Milt Palacio. Palacio played 19 minutes a game for us and scored a stellar 6 points a game. He also shot a remarkable 65% from the free throw line which puts him in Shaq territory if you ask me. Palacio was the worst shooting guard ever(.06% from the three), and yet we loved him. Aww Palacio, where have you gone? Why have you left us? Side note: he once made a buzzer beater, while playing for another team, and was nicknamed "miracle Milt".

Let us never forget pillow fort gate. The all-stars of this scandal were of course Dee "9 shots" Brown, and Ronnie Brewer. Let's look at them as individuals.

First, Ronnie Brewer, he had imperfect shooting form and yet seemed to shoot pretty ok (over 50%). He was incredible on defense and to this day I can still hear the echoes of his opponents yelling "swiper no swiping, swiper no swiping, swiper no...ugh!!" Unfortunately for Ronnie, he wasn't as great outside of the Jazz. He left to join the Bulls when they were trying to be the Jazz 2.0. He is currently in the D-League, where I would argue he does not belong. For more on this, see my future thread "10 Reasons the Jazz should rescue Brewer from the D-League".

Wee little Dee Brown. This speedy little guy, was one of Deron's Illinois teammates and against all odds made the team and played alright. We also learned he could consume 2/3's of his body weight in alcohol. Fun fact, this short little guy somehow recorded not 1, not 2, but 7 blocks in one season.

As much as it pains me, I guess Raja Bell belongs on this list somewhere. Raja Bell is probably my least favorite Jazz player of all time, but in honor of our game against the Laker's on Monday I will bring up his only bright spot: He allegedly clothes lined Kobe. I especially loved when he promised he would sing with us and the signed with the Jazz. And also this tidbit: "On July 14, 2010, Bell signed a three-year, $10 million contract to return to the Utah Jazz. However, his relationship with the team soured after two seasons. In a mutual agreement, he spent much of the 2012–13 season away from the team while still under contract. On March 10, 2013, Bell was waived by the Jazz." Some people like him, and this thread is the love train, so here is the love: Raja, Raja, he's our guy if he can't do it no one can!

Shandon Anderson (Colton special request). This stat sheet filler sure new how to take care of business. 19 minutes a game, 2 fouls/game, 1 turnover, 2 rebounds, and 1 assist...I can not believe he never made the all-star team. He was however a late 2nd round pick, and served a purpose. Averaging 19 minutes a game during some of the Jazz's best seasons meant he was good at something. This highlight video makes him look way better than his stats would lead you to believe. Aww, these were the good ol' days:

The only Jazz player (that I know of) to come out as gay (and first in the NBA): John Amaechi. This guy, was soooo brilliant, and sooo smart, and sooo fantastic. He studied at Oxford (or somewhere) afterall. He also, claimed that Sloan knew he was gay and that's why didn't play very much. But at 6 points a game on 30% shooting, maybe it wasn't because Sloan was an old man who didn't respect people's sexual preference, but rather an old man who didn't respect crappy players. Anywho, Amaechi's legacy will be that he came out as gay, hopefully leading to other players feeling comfortable enough to do the same. Amaechi also has published a book which received a reward from ESPN.

Colton, I have a question that I'm sure has been answered 1 million times. If you like someone's post does that give them more "rep" or do you only do that by hitting the up and down arrows and giving rep that way?

Likes and reps are two separate systems, so liking someone's post doesn't affect their rep.

see that's the trouble with getting older... you get to the bottom of the second page and can't remember what you read on the first page!

Sorry kiri, I'm sure it was memorable. I may need a guide dog to help me find it though.
