According to Mike Wilbon, the consensus among GM's is that Jabari is currently the lead dog in the race to go number one in the 2014 draft. Great Article. I would recommend it. https://espn.go.com/mens-college-ba...ege-basketball-needed-night-champions-classic

Parker was the best player in Chicago last night. I think his feel for the game, His ability to shoot it, his superior size at the 3, and his underrated athleticism propel him to the number One spot. Jabari Parker will go number 1.

Still Wiggins. You can't pass on someone like him. They'll both be stars but Wiggins goes #1 unless something unexpected happens.

Top 3 picks are

1. Celtics - Wiggins
2. Jazz - Parker
3. Suns - Randle

Is there any way Parker doesn't end up way bigger weight wise? He's going to be 250 +. He's got that polynesian body and he's only 18. I'm not saying that's good or bad, but he might be a different sort of player in the next few years because of that.

Very interesting observation.

I think he's Paul Pierce but slightly more athletic... Pretty good imo

Honestly, Wiggins has all that potential but he is missing something that Parker and Randle both have. Parker and Randle both seem like the leaders on their teams. They seem like the main actors in a Broadway play whereas Wiggins blends in and most of the time just seems like another one of the guys. He's like a supporting actor who, at one point in most Plays, has a brilliant 5 minute soliloquy that everyone looks back on and says, "wow, that was great"

Parker will make impressive plays and hit tough shots. Wiggins will be unstoppable and not have to hit tough shots. Eventually, Parker will miss his fading 22-foot jumper in crunch or he'll miss his double clutch drive, like he did last night. Parker can do everything well and can play multiple positions on the floor, but Wiggins and Randle are going to dominate their position and score with greater efficiency, simply because they can get easier scoring opportunities for themselves or teammates.

I still have Parker behind Wiggins and Randle, and I think Exum is still in the discussion.

What is there really left to say other than this: Man, it will be an epic tragedy if we do not get a top 3 pick...

I think Parker goes #1 if the Jazz or Celtics pick #1. Danny Ainge is like a mentor to Parker, and there is no way he passes him up. The Jazz are just such a perfect fit for Parker.

The thought of having Hayward @ the 2 and Parker @ the 3 gets me crazy excited. Add to that the quality bigs we have Holy ****. And we will have gsw pick and our own early second round pick. That pick will be very valuable because this draft class is deep and the contract isn't guaranteed. So we may be able to move up for exum/Smart. Anyway I better go change my pants.(sticky)

Parker reminds me of Carmelo Anthony. A big small forward who could play some 4 like Melo does in NY. He has range and can also get to the basket, but seems less ball-dominant than Melo, which is good. He was being guarded by Kansas' center/PF in the 2nd half, which explains his collapse down the stretch. Impressive player.

Not sure of Wiggins comparison yet. I heard Chad Ford mention a young Tracy McGrady, but I think he moves better without the basketball than McGrady. Maybe Grant Hill?

If the Jazz land the #1 overall pick then the #31 could be just as good as a top ten pick if a Euro emerges and is signed to a big contract already. Let's keep our eyes open for another Pekovic-type stasher.

I like the Anthony comp much more than the PP comp. Their outside shooting is very similar.

I don't think the Jazz are going to want 4 rooks next year(I'm pretty sure we have gsw 2nd rounder as well) It's probably better to cash in all 3 for a shot @ another stud imo. We can pick up guys like that in FA.

That's the point. Occasionally, a #31 pick is as valuable as a top 10-15 pick if the Euro is signed and cannot come over for a couple of years. First rounders are locked into the rookie scale for four years. Second rounders can be enticed over with big contracts much sooner. I.E. Nikola Pekovic was considered a top ten pick but went #31 due to his contract situation. Trading a late lottery pick for him at #31 could have made sense.

Jabari is who I want. Wiggins may have the greatest upside, but Parker would go #1 in any other draft. He's the perfect player for the Utah Jazz.
