the ***** version, I spose.
bollocks mate, bollocks!
:)
as regards the education, I believe education is not a factor; maturity is.
Plus, kids growing in a decent family athmosphere would be much more level-headed.

Did you know that JR Smith has a middle class educated background?

So in other words, he went to a public school like 90% of NBA players. What's your point?
He graduated from a private high school then went straight to the NBA... but I'm not sure what the point is. Maybe that he is symbolic of the sort of idiot that we wouldn't want on our team. If so, I agree.

Well I interpreted the "decent family background" from a wealth perspective, because I think most NBA player have functional families regardless of the wealth. I mean there must have been someone in the family who helped them resist all the temptations while growing up or teach them to choose to rather stay in gyms than get in contact with local criminal organisations.

That's what I was coming from. And I wanted to give an example where this didn't stop JR from developing a very "unique" personality.

"decent family athmosphere" was what I wrote, my brother sir.
I remember reading that kids that eat their dinner with their families regularly tend to be more succesful at school.
A peaceful and understanding family athmosphere, that is.

But there is no determinism there right?

If a kid eats his dinner with parents and successes at school, those things would have no bonds between each other. They are the two unrelated consequences of a certain situation, the kid being a nice kid.

Respectfully Note to Elder Tarkanian: Pardon me if I spoil an effort to bring your child to the table.

Education, no. Overall intelligence, yes.

A lot of people appreciated this post... and I find that interesting.

Most people liked it because they conflated "education" with "a history being involved in certain degree-granting institutions." Actually, getting an education does not require participation in any institution.

I could go on, but, YES, a player's education is really important to me. I assumed that "education" meant "education in the ways of basketball." Silly me.

this is what I was talking about.
Addictionary (what a nick) is one of those kids that did not grow up in a traditional God-fearing law-abiding family.
I am sure he is an effing comunist!
(Elderly strikes back)

seriously though; kids that feel the attention from their families grow up cognizant of their personal responsibilities.
Correlation my soft, hairy .....
