I agree that we need at least 2 young prospects in addition to the draft picks. I’m not interested in Mikal Bridges like haul with no prospects.
I’m the opposite. I think we have prospects coming out of our ears currently and draft picks in future years are ammunition (in the form of peak liquidity) for future trades (for a player or trading up). Also not looking for help this year (team tank).

TLDR; team pixxx… maybe *ONE* blue chipper…

Agreed we need to be looking for quality, not quantity. HOU is rich in picks and ready made prospects. I think Kuminga and Moody are interested but I find the HOU players more intriguing.
GS interest me a little because I think we could do some super swaps in the odd years which will add a lot of value to our current picks and get some unprotected picks from a team that is aging out in a competitive conference. Kuminga and Moody are fine, so I will take them too.

I think Houston and OKC are the only teams that can GOBSMACK us with an offer... and I think that's what it will take.

GS might also be desperate and actually see Lauri’s current pay as a benefit vs the renegotiated rate.

Yeah I mean if they gave you control of their drafts for 7 years and Kuminga/Moody... its not bad at all. They have one weird pick they owe Wiz that is highly protected... so you have some paperwork to make the swaps and stuff work but it is really workable.

Good post. Ya this is a very tankable roster. We should be really bad. I don't think Sexton will handle that very well. Probably time to trade him to be honest. He is way too intense and competitive for a tank team.
Are you serious? Sexton was literally driving the Cleveland tank. He was living his best life.

Also maybe the Spurs go after Lauri. They got those extra picks and swaps from Minnesota. They have all those Atlanta picks. They have a guy like Jeremy Sochan who is interesting.

The Dillingham trade kind of signaled they aren't interested in just adding random young talent and hoping it works out.

Unless there's this incredibly stupid offer that's about 2x "too good to refuse", I really hope we don't trade him.

Are the Phoenix picks the best picks that other teams own out there?
Depends on what happens this summer. Clips picks kinda juicy if PG bails. They are juicy already but get way more juicy. Philly has some picks out there. Atlanta picks are good but in the weak East you can become a play in team with some really mid additions. I think the Phoenix picks might be top of the list.

I think I like both the floor and ceiling of the Phoenix picks.

Jazz are probably going to make the cost of trading for Lauri prohibitive at this stage.
Lauri might be at the zenith of his market value right now even with his contract situation. It's obvious after they made all
3 draft picks this is likely to be another player development type season with no playoffs. This would be his 8th season in the league with 0 playoff appearances. The best thing for everyone might be to trade him if they can get 1-2 prospects + 2 premium draft picks.

The WC is going to be a gauntlet next season and even teams like Portland are making trades to get better. If that doesn't pan out, I'm going to assume even if they keep Lauri and play him with all their first and second year players they will be a bottom 5-6 team. Outside of maybe Portland, every other team in the WC will likely be better unless Ainge can pull off a miracle trade for a star in the next few weeks.

Then again maybe he's onboard for the "vision" and a huge pay increase will be enough to keep Lauri happy in Utah for another season. If he stays I expect he might get frustrated playing alongside a bunch of 19-21 yo kids. He didn't seem all too excited after they traded his buddies Olynyk and Fontecchio at the deadline.

There is a script for the Jazz to be very good in 2026. If Lauri can stick around then I don't think we should trade him. Wanna watch him playing the pick n roll with Flagg.

The timeline of this team no longer makes sense to keep Lauri, IMO.

And Houston has both the want and young talent/picks to make this work for everyone.

Choose your fav young dude on their roster, ask for him and a **** ton of picks and let’s rip the bandaid off.

Is Sengun fully off limits?

Lauri and Walker for Sengun, Jabari Smith Jr. and ~three or four real 1sts. Walker gives them a real defense they don’t have. (Jazz eventually flip Sengun.)

Sengun would be the haul so no flipping needed.

I would do that deal.
Really hard for me to buy in on centers that don’t protect the rim like at all unless they’re an all-world talent (I probably need to do more Sengun research).
