Really hard for me to buy in on centers that don’t protect the rim like at all unless they’re an all-world talent (I probably need to do more Sengun research).
Dude is a problem. I honestly could see Houston having him essentially off limits.

NO which is what i really want. If he's ok with being crazily financially compensated for another couple of years before the team becomes relevant again then keep him. You can't have ALL young players and nobody who knows how to play

If and when we bring Procida over Lauri is as good as gone. I found it interesting that Flip compared himself to Lauri. Decent comparison only Flip plays better D. Then between Cody, Hendricks, Lofton and Bazley we have the position covered. He and Sexton don’t fit the timeline and will undoubtedly be traded sooner than later.

Flip ain't "replacing" nobody. He will be lucky to be employed in the NBA in 3 years.

I mean I hope he is, but he will have to improve a LOT. . .

Between you and Tatum, I’ll go with Tatum. With his versatility between the four and the five, I think he’s got a solid future ahead - screw the metrics.

PS Never said that only he could be the four.

Fischer put out an article just now with a section about Utah. Honestly nothing to glean from it over than just another source saying Utah is looking to add another talent next to Markkanen opportunistically. Said if they cant other teams hope they will deal Lauri
Do you mean this?

Excited if he stays with a near future plan to get serious, but also excited if he ends up into a contender. Worst case for Jazzand him is to suck three seasons more and hold onto him.

Jazz beat writers in shambles
I don't think a single one expected the Jazz to use all those draft picks to add 3 additional prospects to this roster. They were all saying Ainge was going to deal a few of those picks. Players such as Advija and Dejounte were traded but obviously not to the Jazz. Bridges also traded but the Knicks probably overpaid by 1-2 picks.

There are likely no "big game" pieces headed to Utah this offseason and no I don't consider players like Dejounte or Tobias to be big needle movers for this team anyway. The realization is setting in that Jazz will be in for another season of heavy player development with 20 year old kids with quite possibly the worst record in the WC regardless if they keep Lauri or not. I generally like our young prospects but you can't win in this league with so many kids getting development minutes and a few of these kids, despite the pedigree, look to be a few years away from being positive NBA contributors.

Now the writers are starting to whisper that the Jazz should use their capspace this summer to rent out for future picks. Maybe that's the right path for a team stocked with so many kids that will take a few years to potentially develop. This might not be the path that many fans wanted but honestly just happy they finally seem to be taking a direction especially with the '25 draft so stocked with talent.

You finally mentioned it at the end - the 25 draft. No way Ainge let’s OKC have our protected pick at the end of this season!

I love Lauri and I love that he loves Utah.

But if Ainge can get five or six solid picks/young players with starter potential, that’s an inconceivable number of assets that, given the intelligence of our FO, is a really fantastic path forward.

Unless he doesn’t want to stick around, I’ve basically completely cooled on trading Lauri right now. We are flush with young talent that needs playtime. The war chest is full and the depth of basketball talent worldwide has me bullish that we will be getting intriguing/exciting/potentially good, players no matter where all of those picks end up.

The next half decade is cycling through a dozen+ draft picks and young players while we figure out what works and what doesn’t and who is good and who isn’t. If Lauri is happy to be around for that and will sign a deal. Then I see every reason to keep him at the center of it all. He’s a fantastic building block.

If PG stays in LAC, I think it gets interesting. That will mean at least one more team who struck out on getting star this summer and who might get ancy. I still think it's hard to drop the godfather package on Lauri with only one year left on his deal. Next summer when he's locked into a long term deal, absolutely, but right now it be extremely risky for teams to make a big commitment like this on a handshake deal.

Between you, Tatum, and the 30 GM's with first round picks, I'll side with the GMs.

I was going to say that time will tell but the statement that “the 30 GMs with first round picks…” is at best a tautological argument and doesn’t make any sense. Your reasoning?
