Does Lauri Get Dealt Before The Season Starts?

I felt really good about the Rudy and Don trade values before they happened. They were elite players locked into long term deals....I was the one saying the haul was going to be better than expected but we shouldn't settle. This time with Lauri, as amazing as he is he is not quite as good as those two and he is on a one year deal. I think we will get a good deal, but maybe underwhelming compared to some expectations I've been seeing. Some of these packages are significantly more than Bridges, I think he will yield a little bit less if traded.

I'm totally in for the tank because at this point the best options to execute other plans have dried up. If they had other plans and whiffed, time to pivot is now and not in the middle of the season for the third time.
 
One small conspiracy theory. Lauri's team wasn't enthused about the extension and asking for the full raises yada yada and also maybe voicing displeasure over how the rebuild is going. The rumors will have him nervous about losing the big payday and he will circle back and let them know he wants to be here. We then are able to agree to the extension numbers and stop taking calls.
 
One way to increase the pool of teams would be to offer to take on more salary to help a team get under the cap enough to be able to do the R&E. We would need more picks for us to do this, but might be a way to get a deal done with OKC for example.

Yeah... there have been a handful of those. I get openly mocked whenever I say "we could have done that" but yeah... they got Green for nothing. Even without Lauri that is still a decent piece of business. Way better than getting Collins for nothing.
 
I do think Lauri will get trade. At the end, i'm pretty sure he want to win and he will get a max extension here or with another team. I also think he may have been quite frustrated since 2 years with our one step forward, 2 step behind strategy. Top players like him play for money but also to win games. Being mediocre for another 2 or 3 years will kill his best years. At that stage, i hope for him he got trade to a good team and that we finally do the tank we should have done 2 years ago.

Although him pressing Givony for the goods juiced the Filipowski story pretty good.

(Incidentally, though I don't blame Lowe for asking about the rumor, I'd like to have him acknowledge his role in having it explode and maybe address what is known/not known at this point rather than just have all sorts of rumors running rampant. Don't really expect that to happen though. And maybe the story only has a 3-4 day shelf life as it is.)

This is what I would want from GSW. If they want to add in Wiggins, they owe us more. IMO, this deal is right about the Bridges deal/slightly under. That seems about right for Lauri.
