There are really only two teams that make sense to me. San Antonio because they can extend him and can put together the best package and Golden State because they might just be stupid desperate and give us everything they have.

The only other team that could surprise would be OKC, because I believe we can help them get enough space to extend Lauri and have plenty of picks to compensate us.

Also, FWIW, if I'm Ainge I wouldn't care about quantity of picks. I would only make a trade if I thought that there was a player or pick that had a chance to get to Lauri's level and as many extra picks or swaps to represent the risk that they don't get to his level.

We already have more picks than we know what to do with, so quality over quantity is the only way I'm letting Lauri go.

I wish we’d deal with Houston. They have some promising young players and juicy picks likely to land in the lottery. I’d love to increase the odds of getting a tp 4 pick in 2025.

Question for someone who's thought about superswaps more than I have: Are the component parts of a superswap tradable? Let's take an example. Suppose you made a trade with the Warriors that included a superswap in 2029 (we own both Cavs and Wolves picks then, don't we)?

Could you trade the Wolves and Cavs picks for other assets? If so, we might imagine a scenario where the following draft picks result based on the Jazz, Warriors, Cavs, Wolves finishes:
Jazz -- 15th pick
Warriors -- 20th pick
Cavs (now owned by team A): 3rd pick
Wolves (now owned by team B) 25th pick

In this superswap + subsequent trade scenario, who ends up with which picks? How would the language associated with the trades to Teams A & B convey this?

i hate this. you would think with all of the interest that our team would realize that he is more valuable to us than anybody else, but we have crows for management that jump onto anything sparkly and new. i don't know who to root for these days because they keep getting traded away the second they have value. i also think that teams are stupid by falling into the trap of bidding against each other until they mortgage their future for five years for one player who might or might not fit into their team. sadly, the way this is looking he will be traded, and the jazz will get good value for him, but i don't like it and i can't feel any positive feelings for the team until this stupid tank storm is over and the team decides to actually play competitive basketball again.

Do you remember how fun it was when Donovan broke through on his rookie season? How fun it was to root for a contending team built on two guys we discovered? If we cash in now and have a bit of luck, we could be watching a bunch of kiss that we drafted turn into the long time foundation of the next great Jazz team. I want to watch that.

And I'm just random Finnish Lauri fan, who can say I'd get bigger pleasure if he managed to build a culture in Jazz and end his prime by taking them at least into conference finals, or more. Not opposed with anything that will happen as long he get playoffs run in his prime. It will be tight to achieve it with current Jazz, but that'd be fun!

yep i felt like that after Simone got traded and preparing to feel like that again if this goes thrgouh. If Lauri gets traded i'll be checked out until they've decided on a couple of players they're keeping long term or they stop this musical chairs thing If he's traded there's gonna be 5 years of sh1te.

I'd really like to watch him and Sexton do what they can with the kids this year, we wouldn't even have to tank deliberately.

Absolutely! As a Norwegian Lauri is definitely easy to cheer for. If he is up for a tear down this year with him being the only good vet,I would love that.

Oh, Donovan? you mean the guy who we traded away for a ton of random stuff, which kick started the tank? again, i hate this.

I just wish the Jazz would stop being a farm team for others. It's been 20+ years since Stockton and Malone and I feel like every time the Jazz have developed some good players, they couldn't trade them away for future assets quickly enough. I just wanna watch one single Jazz team go through a natural life cycle. It doesn't matter if they win a championship or keep losing in the first round, I just want to see another good player spend his career there.

I wanna be able to buy a ****ing jersey I will still want to wear 3-4 years later. I wanna be able to pick a profile photo on this forum and not feel like I need 3 backup ones over the next few seasons just in case.

I don't watch college basketball because it's a giant load of crap in so many ways, but probably the biggest reason is the constant turnover. I don't want the Jazz to be like that just to satisfy the vanity of a man who built one championship team in 30 years.
