That’s interesting. So I wonder if they are just stringing them along or actually waiting for the Warriors to put Podz in the deal or to clear up the obligation to Washington or maybe looking for a third team that likes Kuminga and will offer something.
Stringing them along to push the package out of SAS. They didn't fall for it now the next inflection point is the day Lauri becomes extension eligible

Might be. I think our biggest threat to SA is just ourselves keeping him though.

Let’s say everything GS can offer is on the table. What’s the SA offer that beats it. All the Atlanta draft capital is likely the primary target but what else? Or is that by itself better than the GS offer?

If Ainge is intent on trading Lauri eventually and tanking, then there is a lot of risk by taking this strategy. Mainly Lauri could get hurt, but also having him on a bigger salary could be more difficult to match salaries. Then there is also the risk that he helps us win too many games.

ATL Picks + Minnesota pick + Sochan > GSW Picks/Swaps + Kuminga

I don't think Spurs will budge to give up all their Atlanta picks. If they make an offer, that -25 pick will at least have slight protections. They really would have a use for another top 5 pick to pair with Wemby and grow with the core.

I don't think Ainge is intent on doing that. I think Ainge wants to eventually convert most of our assets into a title contender that Lauri would be part of.

This whole thing is kinda weird. Like if we aren’t shopping him why all these offers on the table. Like we aren’t saying no that’s for sure. So just messing around with the guy you want to keep and he’s gonna be super cool… is it in part a negotiating tactic. Do they really think SA gonna blow them away?

I think it's just the Danny Ainge experience. Nobody is truly untouchable and he likes having stuff that other GMs want. He also doesn't seem to care about pandering to players.

Because just like us they conclude that it would make reasonable sense for us to trade Lauri. Plus, unlike how some have portrayed our position, we have been engaging with teams on making a trade, and that will cause other teams to do their due diligence and call. I don't believe we are just sitting back answering the phone and hanging up if its not a God offer. I remember Windy specifically saying that teams (SAC and GS at least) believed that we would do a trade. That means we were actively in talks with them. Also, Windy cautioned that Danny has in the past sent the message that he's willing to make a deal just to walk away in the end.

The danger with this dragging on is that Lauri gets POed. Instead of a team first guy you turn him into a super toxic troll in the locker room. Players have feelings and emotions too.

Nothing is being drawn out. He can't do the R&E deal until a certain date.

I can almost guarantee his possible frustration won't lash out on his team mates. Nothing in his past both in teenage in Finland neither pro career in NBA suggests that. It's also very, very, very, very uncommon for any Finnish athletes in team sports.
