Does Memphis have anything to play for?

I believe if the Clippers win tonight they will get home court and the 4th spot. So then tomorrow night Memphis will be guaranteed the 5th spot and will have nothing to play for.....so GO CLIPPERS!

Am I correct?

Memphis is currently a 1/2 game ahead of the Clips. The Clips play tonight and tomorrow night. The Clips hold the tiebreaker. So Memphis needs to win and hope for 1 Clip loss.

You're wrong.

If the Clips win tonight, Memphis can still get the 4 spot if they beat the Jazz and the Clips lose to the Kings. No matter what the outcome tonight, Memphis will be playing to win tomorrow.

But I thought the division winner's are guarenteed a top 4 seed? Like on NBA.com it shows Memphis a 1/2 game ahead of LA but its still shows them in the 5th seed.

This **** is confusing.

They're not guaranteed home court in the first round, just like when the Jazz were the 4th seed against the 5th seeded Rockets in 2007.

Read the thread title. I was asking a question and I got the correct answer to my question.

How is that a fail?

Because you could have answered that question with 2 minutes of internet research (i.e. less than or equal to the amount of time you invested in this thread) and a brain.

Thanks to Beantown, now I don't have to take two minutes and find out elsewhere.

Validated question.

Apparently everything NAOS has posted is calculated, researched, thought through and can't be found anywhere else on the internet.

That's sarcasm, but I'm sure your brain telepathically picked up on that already.

Seeing as the Grizzlies only played their starters for 20-24 minutes vs. Dallas last game, they don't seem to be playing for much. It will be interesting to see if they do the same against the Jazz.

Maybe they thought they had that game in the bag though, but that doesn't seem realistic since it was a road game against a decent Mavs team.

Ya, thanks beantown I was wondering the same thing and I'm glad I found the answer here so I don't have to go to google or espn and figure out the standings and such

Thirded.

How ridiculous does NAOS feel right now?

Heeeeey guys,

Can I come grovelling back to this thread, spouting merrily about all that beantown adds to our community?

No?!
**** it. I'm out.

The first question is, does this matter?

No.

Playing well is priority 1-10. If you're hoping someone else ****s up, then well, you don't deserve the break.
