It has been good to see Cy morph from "we need to trade Collin before his contract is untradeable" to "we need to trade Collin because he is too good and will make us a play in team".
Unlike some people I have opinions that can change based on what I see. Sexton won me over. He is very good.

Also, I dont think we need to trade Sexton. I'm fine going forward and trying to win games, but if the goal is to lose and get a great pick, you need to trade Sexton.

If we are healthy and those teams are healthy you really think that we can be better? I'm not seeing it.
For some of the teams I listed yes, health will be a key factor, but I listed them because their best players are known to have big health risk.

Easily make the play in? LOL this is the opposite of the "rest easy we will be awful". Which 5 western conference teams are we easily better than? Probably should be 6 if we can easily make the play in.

I like our guys….but there’s a team with LeBron and AD on it that is going to fight for a play in spot. This is a team of Lauri, Sexton, and then Kessler (who apparently doesn’t even make us win a lot?)….Something’s not adding up.

I just think the Jazz have two really great offensive players. Sexton is ready to take off. Him and Lauri have had two seasons together and this will be their first year together where they are clearly the two best players and will play like it.

I get the idea is that young players will hold the team back to such a degree that winning will very hard, and I agree that is certainly a very real possibility, but why risk it keeping Sexton? I really think trading Sexton guarantees that you are bad. Because if Collins/Clarkson have bounce back years while you have Sexton? That's going to win you games. And right now the story is that we cant really deal Collins/Clarkson without giving up an asset, so that makes it kind of imperative you trade Sexton.

First off, I said "could easily", not "easily".
Super important clarification lol.

Jazz can be better than the Warriors, Lakers, Spurs, Blazers, and Clippers. Then there are team who could sustain injuries or arent very good, like the Kings (barely a + team last year despite great health and have to incorporate Derozan) or the Pelicans (Zion's health is always a concern and with no bigs it's an even bigger concern than in year's past)
Okay boss. Not if those teams are healthy.

Unlike some people I prefer to have the right opinion originally lol.

I'm just given ya a hard time big fella. Don't get too huffy.

And yea, you are about to pay Lauri a ton of money. You can definitely ask him to sit.

You can't ask Sexton to sit if he's healthy.

So are ours.
Not really. The Jazz have been sitting healthy players, not players actually being injured. There's a difference.

And yes, I know the Jazz will sit Lauri a lot of games. But they can't feasibly do that with Sexton while he is repped by Klutch and is wanting to prove his value to the NBA.

What’s funny is that I think Saint has the same opinion as people (we should tank by trading Sexton), but his rationale and arguments he’s bringing up are so insane he’s having to defend those arguments who have the same initial opinion.

Wanting to trade Sexton is reasonable. Based on the Lauri trade thread I think that it would be overwhelmingly popular. You don’t need to say insane things to make the argument that we should trade him lol.

If you have Sexton and Markkanen you are going to play very well.
It's possible
But I have watched the jazz lose a lot of games with even better rosters that included those two over the last few years.

We just don't know how the jazz will start the season off next year.

And you probably shouldnt talk out your *** because that's not what it is.

I do not have the opinion the Jazz should tank (I literally made a thread about getting Brandon Ingram and Kawhi Leonard you doofus).

But if the Jazz want to tank, they should do it in a way that assures the end goal of getting a top 5 pick, which is trading Sexton. I've made that pretty clear, no idea why this post exist.

So now Sexton is so good that even when Lauri is sitting we still winning?
Damn

I am def not opposed to trading Walker or Collin or either of the JCs. I think it all helps to some degree. I just think right now its the difference between being in the 6-8 range or the 4-6 range if you moved Collin or Kessler.

I don't think either get moved rn.

Jazz were a .500 team last year (through about 50 games) with those two playing while Clarkson had a career bad year, while THT started, and while John Collins/Walker Kessler failed to gel and the team had to adjust on the fly before they had to make trades to ensure losing.

I have talked to HH endlessly in the Lauri thread and I know he’s open to the idea of trading Sexton/Kessler to get worse. But I also know the reason he’s arguing you is because some of these points you’re bringing up are dumb AF lol.

My points are all rock solid and valid. Some people just want someone to argue with or they want to hold steadfast in their rose colored view that things will work out the way they want. Like "Of course Hardy is in on the tank this year and wont do the things he has done the last two seasons!"

Yep, then the team got worse. And it's still that worse team currently.

Sexton has two years left on his deal. What are we tanking for? We going to ask Sexton to sit some games so we can draft a guard, the most likely outcome given 3 of the 5 consensus top guys are guards (Harper/Edgecombe/Traore), who will replace you or limit your minutes in your contract year?

I’d still have them in the same tier, I think I had 4-5 teams behind (above?) WAS and BKN. But if they traded Sexton I’d have them more likely to finish at the bottom of that tier than the top.

I think Sexton is great….we’re probably going to fall out of the playoff race quickly/not try to compete in the first place so I don’t see him having close to his max impact this year. Divine intervention will take place. He played really damn well (along with John Collins) during tanking time last year and we were still the worst in the league. I don’t think he’s even on the floor this year during tank time and is more in the Lauri situation.
