Donovan is pissed at some stupid Jazz Fans

No, I dont need to cater to anyone as a fan. If Mitchell will only stay if we never boo a teammate or the team then I dont care, he can move on. I like him but he does not get to dictate what I do as a fan. We do not need to worship him and cater to him. That is the ownerships job not the fan. My job is to be a fan through ups and downs and I expect my team to play hard, put in a full effort and make decisions that improve the team. As a fan I expect to let the team know when I dont like what they are doing.

Personally I like Hood and would not boo him. I would not boo a guy for being off with his shot. I would boo him for quitting like he did last night. He subbed himself out of the game, walked out early, and gave up on defense, that is the type of stuff I would boo. I will boo players on my own team if I dont like their behavior or effort. Jazz had a very poor effort, especially on defense. I think its fine to boo the team when that happens. If they dont like being booed, play harder.

Would you rather people quit watching the Jazz then boo them? What recourse do you have if you dont like what a team is doing? Personally I am too big of a fan to just give up and stop watching if I dont like what the team is doing so I would choose to boo in that situation.

Besides a player isnt staying or going because of this situation. They care far more about money, winning and location.

If Mitchell leaves over something like this then good luck to him, he is probably to mentally weak to hack it in the NBA. Fact is, it wont effect him at all. He is simply being a good teammate and sticking up for a teammate, good for him, he should.

And this

Fans can be frustrated, but next time let’s take it out on the team, not Rodney Hood. Rubio and Ingles has worse games than him and both get paid far more. Hoods making $2 mill, Rubio and Ingles are make over $10 mill. Yes both good money, but Hood should not be the target of booing nor should any specific player. This team is not a great team by its roster, last night with the eye test I get it though. It looked like a mess on both ends of the court. This team is not very good, and the roster is not very good. That’s where we’re at. Boo the overall performance, not one guy who didn’t end up having as bad of game as others just because you thought he was something he wasn’t or at least isn’t yet.

Not saying you do this, but I love how fans always get mad at players for leaving to take more money “they already make millions, do they need a few more??”, but then act like they have the right to treat players anyway they want because they pay “good money” or “hard earned money” to watch them.

I think this was classless and ignorant to boo our own player on our own court. Donovan has a good head on his shoulder.

Agreed pretty classless - but not sure it was very ignorant. Maybe the singling him out was too harsh and a little ignorant.
How about you weirdos who are defending the booing stop taking sports so seriously?

You do realize its a meaningless game that you are not even playing right?

I dont care how much you paid for your tickets, or how tough you think you are. You are a delusional and an insane jackass. It comes off as uber pathetic. Your only take away from a basketball game should be the impressive things the players can do on both sides, and just enjoy the game. Realistic expectations should be that that sometimes a player will have off games. It happens to even the very best. If you are emotionally involved at all, and it makes you mad that the player isnt playing as good as you want them too, then its you who has the problem. You dont think the player wants to play well? You think your booing is going to help in anyway? Would you boo your own son if that were him out there? Probably not. You'd probably have a whole different perspective on it. But since its not who gives a crap about that person. Right?

Dont cry when players arent loyal either. They know the truth. Fans are fake with their fake love, and are mostly pathetic delusional retards with no talent of their own.

Now go put on another mans jersey and cry like a little girl when the ball doesnt go in the hole. Whaa!

Feel better now?
Why don't you stop posting about the meaningless game bro.

ps Never booed in my life nor would I. However, I am not someone who is intolerant of other peoples' behavior (views) even if I think they are 'jackass'. Leave people to live their own lives and make their own decisions cuz

I was on my couch swearing up a storm at my TV but I wouldn't have boo'd if I was at the game, I might have thought to heckle because I'm an *** but I wouldn't have.

Before and after the boo's I was basically saying (more colorfully) how in the heck does a team get so many open to wide open shots and miss so many of them and how does it make you feel Jazz that the other teams are consistently shooting better % on guarded shots then you are on open shots?

I would've been tempted to also heckle the hell out of Ingles as much as I like him. More often than not when he passes up an open 3 it results in a TO or a shot thrown up to avoid a shot clock violation which is as good as a TO. How in the hell does your starting SF only shoot 1 shot? Oh because you missed it, oh okay well you can go sit your *** on the bench until you decide to stop playing offense like a scare little bitch.

I would've also been tempted to heckle Rubio and ask him does he realize in the 1st Qtr you had more assists to the other team than your own team and ask him if he leads the NBA in direct passes to the other team AND that they almost always lead to a fast break or points for the other team.

Then I would heckle both and say we have a starting PG that can't shoot and a starting SF that refuses to shoot and they both turn the ball over so much that at times I wonder if they a day dreaming playing for the other team.

Then I'd heckle the whole team and ask how in the hell is 1 rookie the best player on the team and another rookie playing better than any other wing player over the past week. How does it make you feel that 2 rookies are showing up an entire team, now grow a pair of balls, sack up and get over your mental constipation and just go play ball or stay your bitch *** on the bench.

Now those are my thoughts during the game, as soon as it's over I'm pretty calm, LOL.

I think it's interesting that Donovan wants to be a force of good. As his career goes on he might become a voice of the league similar to Lebron. He'll stand up to players(Steven Adams, etc.), and stand up to his own fan base because he's a decent person and won't tolerate disrespectful behavior. You have to respect that.

Please don't tell me he will shove his politics down our throats. Cause 'decency' is often just someone's cover to get political.

Give it a break and go win a chip!

latin jazz has explained it perfectly to me.
A chorus of boos is just too hurtful on a psychological level, especially when aimed at a single player. If people would put themselves in the position of Rodney, with the torment of 20,000 people looking down upon you with boos raining down from many of them, they would probably act differently.

Have some friggin perspective on what they are booing though!

They aren't wishing him ill will or misfortune. They are booing his bricking shots and being a low IQ player (at times). Context matters - the fans want to win and when the players suck repeatedly they get upset. Those same fans would be fair weather and happy to cheer the second the shots fall (as they seemed to after the booing). Sports and sports fandom can be a bit fickle - but it is part of the landscape.

If Hood was in a local restaurant and someone started heckling him, this would be different imo. But when he is out there plying his trade in a cutthroat world where players are cut every other day, he should swallow his pride and get on with being the best player he can be.

Furthermore, Hood expects a big payday - he should be better than this.

Meh not really my style to boo anyone home or away, but fans can boo players for sucking if they want to. You drop a few hundred on the game, a couple hundo a year more on your cable package/league pass or whatever other swag you buy, you can express you dissatisfaction however you want in my opinion. Booing happens because it’s the most direct way for fans to express dissatisfaction. Would I do it, no... but I understand why others do (every team in the league gets booed or has players who get booed at some point).

It’s an over-reaction from both sides tbh
Yeah, but we had someone on Jazzfanz say "Hood shot 1/7 (all 8 shots were bad looks with a hand in his face)". That just tells me the narrative surrounding Hood among fans is so strong they their reality of what actually took place is warped. Not that the narrative isnt partially deserved, but when it over takes everything, it's just dumb.

I actually really think hood could be really great. Just not in his current role, and not with the other players we have. Fans may or may not see the same way as I do, and when you’re frustrated with the teams last month or 2 it can spill out on a scapegoat. Rod is a scapegoat, because he hasn’t been what we needed. Which is unfortunate

What an embarrassment NBA fans, Jazz fans, and people are in General.

If you find yourself booing your own team you are genuine retard and human garbage with no compassion for other human beings. And only fake it when you say you do.

Seriously, how big of a loser do you have to be to do that.

LOL, drama queen much?

If this is your standard for judging a person's character, well then . . .

Of ALL of the possible things people might do that legitimately qualify them as being a piece of human garbage loser (do I really need to point out to you why we don't call people 'retards' anymore?), booing their local sports team ranks pretty low on the list.

I always love it when certain fans take it upon themselves to dictate to others what 'proper' fandom should look like.

Honestly, there are things that merit getting all uptight and righteously indignant about; this isn't one of them.

how exactly could he be really great ? And if so how is it we haven't figured that out ?

I was embarrassed when they booed Hood, it wasn't like anyone else was making shots. Fans should never boo their own players. I am glad DM spoke up about it. Unfortunately, a few fans always make the rest of us look bad.

Don’t pay any mind to what he says. I once disagreed with him about boozer and he went on a tirade about how he knew some real life secret about me and threatened to post it and ruin my life or some ****.

besides his piss poor outside shot last night, his catch and shoot has actually been pretty good this year. he needs an off ball role on a team where he is in no way shape or form #2 on the scouting report, and can just pop out from off ball screens for catch and shoots all game. that's not our team right now.

agreed. that would hardly make him a great player tho

With all this talk about our current situation and players and after seeing the Sundiata Gaines game winner against the Cavs 8 years ago on the Jazz Facebook feed tonight it made me nostalgic for that team, so of course I had to look back on some highlights. The era of Boozer, Deron, and Memo was a good one, and there are times I really miss that team. A guy like Memo is exactly what the Jazz could use today. I forgot how good Deron Williams once was and Boozer when he wanted to be. We had Korver and Millsap. That team was a piece away from being a championship caliber team. It’s sad that run was so short, but it sure made me miss it watching the highlights. Enjoy a look back at the money man, it was a fun ride with that team, and a good way to forget about the current one:
