Donovan Mitchell All Star Weekend Thread

Donovan can definetly handle being a star, and he has everything to be one. He was born and raised to be great, and he is...beyond anything this franchise has ever got its hands on before. Karl was probably the closest thing, but not this fast, this charismatic, or loveable. Stockton wasn’t someone who wanted such treatment. Donovan is perfect at this, and I think he can handle it. I just hope he can get all the attention he deserves in this small market and can stay grounded, but if he’s this grounded at 21, I don’t see him being anything but a class act his whole career. I think we’ve all got the hope and dreams he will go down as the greatest Jazz player ever...but that’s ahead of ourselves....but we can wish. All we can do is support and love the kid and hope the team wins..... and you do get the real genuine feel of loyalty from the kid but a lot can happen over a career and what an exciting time it is to be a Jazz fan.

Here’s an article on him

You'd have to be insanely socially inept to believe that calling the contest the "worst ever" isn't any dig at the contestants.
You have to be insanely sensitive to take it offensively. It's not a shot at the dunk contestants personally or about their game. It basically says it was the worst dunk contest Memo has seen. Get over it, big boy.

lol, calm down Archie.

Nobody's catching feelings about it - just simply pointing out that calling a dunk contest the "worst ever" is taking a shot at the dunk contestants. To argue otherwise would be insanely stupid.

That was a great game. Kudos to the NBA for changing up the format and adding the charity incentive.

My favorite is Gordon's under the *** dunk from a couple of years ago.

Good call. That one is up there with the best. He should have won that contest even Lavine was phenomenal as well

Charles Barkley just said the all star game has sucked the last few years. How dare he! That's so disrespectful. Keep your mouth shut, Barkley if you have nothing positive to say.
Who was the suns player that won the dunk contest this year again? I forget

Awesome format leads to awesome game. Excellent Saturday and Sunday of All Star Weekend. Friday is terrible but what can you do?

Yah, it's been really fun. They really should bring back H-O-R-S-E on Friday. Or something more low key and information. That would really Jazz it up a bit (punn intended).

I haven’t missed an all star game in a long long time.
Tonight my wife and I went to Ruth’s Chris steakhouse for Valentine’s Day. She asked me if I was recording the game and I said no, I’m sick of the all star game. It’s lame.

Now it’s finally good? Fml

They should have a second 3 point shooting contest using only players that have not hit a single 3 pointer all year.

Rudy Gobert, Ben Simmons, Andre Drummond, Clint Capela, Jordan Bell, Kenneth Faried, Enes Kanter and Michael Kidd-Gilchrist? Who wouldn’t want to see that? That’d be funny as hell.

Start to finish, it was the most competitive All-Star game I've seen.

I know LeBron carries the torch for trying to give back to the fan and making it competitive, but it was also the new All Stars Starters Embiied and Greek Freak that made sure there's DEFENSE being played. They also set the tone. Embiid blocking Westbrook was fun to watch.

That would be fun. But the NBA is so SCARED of killing the golden goose (i.e., damaging the League's image) that it won't. Same goes with HORSE, players making fun of themselves doing goofy things they just won't allow. Them not releasing the draft order made that quite clear (not wanting to expose who the last pick is).

Anything remotely embarrassing to their image they won't do, and that's a shame.

Something I would love to see is on Friday night is a mini 3-on-3 NCAA style elimination tournament with representatives from all the teams. That would really make the All Star weekend rock. But that would make it more fun than the All Star Sunday game so they won't ever do it.
