What's new

Donovan Mitchell and the great draft day robbery.

I think the back story here is that we NEEDED cash to keep the team. So, Wilkins was traded for the Jazz to stay in Utah. I'd say we got the better deal long term. I think Miller was either going to sell the franchise or get operating cash. So, I don't blame us for that. And the Lakers getting Magic sounds more like the pick was taken from us than the pick was traded. But I don't know the back story well enough.
Larry Miller did not own the team at the time.

Sam Battistone owned the Jazz back then. He sold the rights to Wilkens for $1,000,000 to make payroll.

Larry bought half of the team for $7,000,000(?) a few years later.

Keon Clark, for Googs, for the pick that later became Thomas Haywood was pretty cool, seeing as how both the previous dudes were practically sent out in body bags.

Tom Gugliotta to the T wolves for Donyell Marshall to GSW. Googs could play back in the day

I loved me some Donyell Marshall back in the day. So I guess it was Haywood for Keon Clark (who I seem to remember watching play at Dixie College. . .)
