Donovan Mitchell Highlight Videos, Spectacular Plays

As a starter (20 games) Mitchell is averaging (per 100) 29.7 points, 4.8 rebounds and 6.1 assists. In comparison Simmons is averaging 20.2 points, 10.2 boards and 8.9 assists.

So Simmons is getting 2.8 more assists and 5.4 more rebounds but Mitchell on better TS% is averaging 9.5 more points.

This race should get interesting, hopefully they both stay healthy and dont hit any rookie wall.

Also just wanted to post this.... Donovan Mitchell ranked second in Rookie Rankings. Can he beat out Simmons eventually? http://roundballdaily.com/2017/12/1...ings-has-donovan-mitchell-taken-the-top-spot/

The one big advantage that Mitchell has in the ROY race is that he can score from anywhere on the floor, and at anytime. When games are on the line late, Mitchell can be the difference maker. Simmons in those situations and at this point, is more of a complimentary piece. Simmons' lack of range, limits his ability to put the team on his shoulders and to take over a game. He needs his teammates to do that with him more than Mitchell does.

For Mitchell to win ROY though, he needs results where he actually does put the team on his back and turn Ls into Ws. And if he did this while the team was chasing a playoff spot, he would have a chance. Lot to ask from a rookie

Yup Mitchell is improving his assists and %s and that really narrows this race. I think he will have a legit chance to win it.

I have my eye on another goal. Most 20+ point games by a Jazz rookie is set at 50 by Dantley. Will Mitchell contest that? He's at what 15?

I think Simmons' lack of 3 point shooting (and his unwillingless to shoot it) is going to be a black mark against him. I mean, think about it, even Centers like Marc Gasol, Embiid, Lopez, Cousins, etc, are shooting the 3pt shot. How can you be the ROY and take no 3pt shot all year?

Looking at it that way Mitchell is more of complete player and therefore should get the ROY.
Without a three point shot he's still getting 17-8-7. I think
You're comparing apples to oranges in terms of what they are as players. What we do know is that Mitchell is producing more in a much more difficult situation than Tatum.

In other words, I think your assessment is wrong and lacks depth.

I'm sure you meant Griffith, not Dantley. Dantley was the leading NBA scorer for a year or two as a veteran Jazz man.

Brad Stevens with high praise for Jazz rookie Donovan Mitchell: "He's special. I think that word was out before the draft but then watching him play in Summer League was pretty eye-opening. ... Plus he's just got a moxie about him, he's got a way about him that people would say is beyond his years. There's also older guys than don't have that so it's not fair to say that. I just think he's just got that way about him."

In part it will also come down to team bias: Utah hardly gets mentioned in the media; Philly has been a media darling with the catchy "The Process" reference. And, if Phi makes the playoffs and Utah misses, that will influence the decision. I think ROY is still Simmons' to lose. He had so much hype coming in. Even now, a lot of the comments have been, "the best rookie not named Simmons" or best player in the draft.

@full highlights @BOSTON (17 pts, 9 assists)

8 quick points in Q4

Weird that there was a random Burks highlight at the 3:25 mark that didn’t even involve Mitchell whatsoever.

I wanna see him do more playmaking and I think we're going to. It's interesting to see how many of Rubio's points came off of Mitchell passes which makes me wonder:
-has Rubio ever really played with another playmaker in the NBA on the perimeter before?
-could it be that Rubio is better as a secondary ball handler, considering that he's particularly easy to key on when it's in his hands?

Intriguing idea

Lebron tells tons of nice words about Donovan. The reporters keeps asking about Donovan and Lebron smiles and says: "am I Donovon Mitchell's spokesman now?" lol
