Also just wanted to post this.... Donovan Mitchell ranked second in Rookie Rankings. Can he beat out Simmons eventually? http://roundballdaily.com/2017/12/1...ings-has-donovan-mitchell-taken-the-top-spot/

As a starter (20 games) Mitchell is averaging (per 100) 29.7 points, 4.8 rebounds and 6.1 assists. In comparison Simmons is averaging 20.2 points, 10.2 boards and 8.9 assists.
So Simmons is getting 2.8 more assists and 5.4 more rebounds but Mitchell on better TS% is averaging 9.5 more points.
This race should get interesting, hopefully they both stay healthy and dont hit any rookie wall.
Without a three point shot he's still getting 17-8-7. I thinkI think Simmons' lack of 3 point shooting (and his unwillingless to shoot it) is going to be a black mark against him. I mean, think about it, even Centers like Marc Gasol, Embiid, Lopez, Cousins, etc, are shooting the 3pt shot. How can you be the ROY and take no 3pt shot all year?
Looking at it that way Mitchell is more of complete player and therefore should get the ROY.
You're comparing apples to oranges in terms of what they are as players. What we do know is that Mitchell is producing more in a much more difficult situation than Tatum.
In other words, I think your assessment is wrong and lacks depth.

Yup Mitchell is improving his assists and %s and that really narrows this race. I think he will have a legit chance to win it.
I have my eye on another goal. Most 20+ point games by a Jazz rookie is set at 50 by Dantley. Will Mitchell contest that? He's at what 15?
@full highlights @BOSTON (17 pts, 9 assists)

8 quick points in Q4
I wanna see him do more playmaking and I think we're going to. It's interesting to see how many of Rubio's points came off of Mitchell passes which makes me wonder:
-has Rubio ever really played with another playmaker in the NBA on the perimeter before?
-could it be that Rubio is better as a secondary ball handler, considering that he's particularly easy to key on when it's in his hands?
