Donovan, other players considering not playing

When your work is open, you go do your job. Sorry, I don’t feel bad for him. He has a month and a half to ramp up. The training facility has been open a month and he’s the one who has chosen to be MIA, while literally every other player on the team has been here. He voted last week as our team rep to return the season on the players call. If it were for racial injustice issues, I’d support him, him simply wanting to sit so he doesn’t endanger his max contract due to some injury, no. And if the season is cancelled, the revenue will be damaged for years and that max contract is going to be significantly impacted anyway. I was with him if he sat for justice, this is a very lame reason. There’s always a risk of injury. He’s had 3 months off and as reported by Tony has been working out hard and is ready to play. If the season returns and that’s his reason, sorry he can play. Training facilities been open for a month, and there’s a month and a half before it starts. It’s selfish. If Joe Ingles who has a high risk child has said he will play, not to mention Joe’s older and less athletic, then nah, Donovan can play. If he wanted to sit out to stand up for a noble cause he truly feels strongly about I will support him 110%, but to try and ensure you don’t jeopardize your max contract by doing the job that’s going to yield you that max contract, nah.

Is this true? Is Donovan literally the only person not there practicing at the facility? All other 14 guys are there?

Following them on Instagram yes. Donovan is literally the only player on the entire roster who hasn’t been back to Utah since March....once. He also has never made himself available to local media. Not certain of the past few days whether he returned but yes he’s literally the only player that hasn’t been back, that includes guys like Oni, Brantley, and Justin Wright Forman. As of about 5 days ago I know Donovan wasn’t here and I doubt he is now. Whenever Royce’s birthday was he still wasn’t here.

More on this

Simple solution here. Instead of insurance allow them to sign their extensions before the season resumes. The insurance policies are expensive, dumb, and will be hard to get the money or prove lost revenue even if there is an injury.

Can we just put the SLC Stars out there for the rest of the season? Donovan has almost nothing to gain from this bubble scenario

Actually he and every player does. Ratings drive revenue, and the amount of revenue that will be lost for not playing is in the billions. It will impact how much he and everyone makes because it will kill the cap for years. They have every financial incentive to play.

it's suspicious.
FIRST - we do not know how COVID affected his playing skills.
SECOND we do not know what is his relationship with GOBERT.
NOW he is speculated about his money - I understand it's a lot at stake but GO and prove You are worth IT.

So Don was live tonight, he’ll play if the season resumes he said, and he 100% is the only player who hasn’t been to SLC and still isn’t since the season ended. On the entire roster lol. Kinda pathetic tbh.

Frankly, you don’t know what your talking about.

I could care less that he’s not in Utah or where ever. He’s taking care of his business whatever that is. My god you’re a busybody at its worst. I’m kinda sick of your ****.

Seems like a pretty good solution to me as well, and I can understand it at least a bit from the young guys perspective. This is their chance to secure real wealth for their families going forward, you don't want to take any chances with that you don't absolutely have to.

Sick of my ****? I’m sick at the fact of an entire 14 man roster I’ve seen every single player two-way and even Stars players come back to SLC, use the training facility and do things except for one guy, and that guy happens to be the....well.... “face of the franchise”....if you’re a leader for your community and franchise that’s 110% not how you do it. He’s about as terrible of a leader and franchise player as you could ask for. He avoids any conflict, is too cowardly to talk to local media when he creates drama, and can talk a ton on twitter but not with his voice or face at any point and time. Why am I so hard on him? Because he acts like he’s such a great leader, and he’s really trash at it.

In fact if you’re the Jazz, save your cap space and make him wait an entire season more, he ain’t staying around either ways o do what’s best for the franchise and not the crybaby entitled star.
Okay oneye Bart

This is pretty simple. If I don't show up to work I don't get paid.
These players aren't special. In fact if the players don't come back you'll see the owners rip up the current cba. They need to be smart.
With the new tv deals and the forced reduced seating in the arenas revenue is going to drop the value of every single professional franchise. The estimate I've heard is the estimated drop will be 20% right off the top.

Your obsessive hatred for Donovan has surpassed Franklin's obsessive love for Corbin. People are sick of your trolling. STFU, please.

Link?

It’s on his Facebook page, he streamed for like 2 hours I just happened to see the part where he said it lol, I have no idea what part of the stream it’s on. Someone asked if he was against restarting the season he said no, then mentioned the insurance for injury thing for a second then basically said if he’s called in to work he’ll go to work. He said it, I promise.

This isn't good. If Don is going to play half heartedly not wanting to risk his big payday, he is going to be worthless. Same for JIngles if he is worried about picking up the virus. If it is true that several dozen players are not enthused about restarting the season, I'm afraid the NBA will put a sub par product out there.

It’s sucks, but don’t expect much from the team tbh. I actually saw someone on twitter yesterday say that they know some around the organization and that one player basically said he hopes they don’t go far in the playoffs because it would make it a really short offseason. So get excited everyone!

I've been around sports enough to know that if you don't play hard you tend to get hurt and if you are going through the motions it is very easy to get embarrassed.
