What's new

Don't hate Da Playa hate Da game!!!!

I have no beef with Corbin this year because he's doing us a huge service. However, the reasons we are bad are multiple and the idea that he's just doing what he's told is conjecture. Every year with any given player we talk about how the Jazz are going to "wait until the deadline" when their value goes up. There's often no substance to this speculation but we all keep repeating it all year that we come to accept the fact that player x is being shopped and we're just waiting for the "ripe opportunity" to deal them. When this deadline comes and passes, we then, like those incorrectly guessing the second coming, cling to the new idea of a summer trade being imminent. The idea that Corbin was instructed to showcase vets is silly, but that's the truism we've adopted here.

It's only an altruism for those who falsely believed the youngins were better than the vets. Now that that has been exposed, the Occam's razor theory that vets were better hence Ty played them has been made plain and clear.

I just don't see this happening. He's the highest paid player and I can't find a situation where a trade makes sense. Williams is much more likely, and playing his *** off like its a possibility.

Either one traded is good!!!

This team has no PG or Bench.... Hard to compare to last years team!!!!

RJ gotta thank Ty for his revival TBH.

He was buried deep in that bench in GSW. Ty has basically resurrected his career to the point where he is now a nice complementary Vet in a contender. I wouldn't even be surprised if Ty & Lindsey re-signed him after this year.

I haven't always been a Ty supporter, but now I'm definitely a convert. Can't stress this enough "Coach can't shoot the ball for you - players are responsible for getting the ball in the hole".

In hindsight, that's what Big Al and Millsap did. They got it done offensively and Ty was right in playing them big minutes.

You're delusional! He's had two good games is all. RJ is ****! He's shooting just under 37% from the field. If we're planning on tanking next year as well then we re-sign him.

I'm not concerned at all about corbin playing the wrongs players or any of that. The roll of a coach is much more than just picking which players to put on the court.

Whichever players are out there, it looks to me as if our offensive and defensive systems are just very poor and as far as I'm concerned that is on Ty.

Of course I admit I am no expert and if anyone would like to correct me please do so.

99% of the game is on the players. They've known these systems since their first freshman game on. Marvin, for example, has played little four in his career yet he stepped in and seamlessly played this role quite well. (Playing small ball with Marvin at the 4 when Favors and Kanter are working rather horribly together is one more example of Corbin's willingness to adapt. I.E. Marvin can set the initiating screen out of HORNS and then leak out for the three if they force baseline and fight over the top).

The reason Corbin was originally hired as HC was because he did such an excellent job scouting opponents with Scott Layden. He knows how to game plan very well but has never had enough talent to impose his will onto the other team. He's always counter punching.

Corbin is a terrific X's and O's coach but might not have that special magic that great coaches need.

I do like that he seems to have placed Burks as a starter at PG and placed Garrett over Lucas. Shows he is trying to find anything that will work.

Like him and his decisions or not, I do feel that Corbin is putting in a lot of thought and effort in.

"Don't hate Da Playa hate Da game!!!!"

....frankly, I reserved the right to hate BOTH! The player, because of his disgracefully disfigured jailhouse tat body AND his disrespect for the game of basketball in that he has turned what was once a beautifully played "team" sport into a "me first" "I don't need no help from nobody on my team because I'm the MAN" selfishly played individual sport as well as there disgraceful off the court conduct and behavior! And I hate the game because "the powers to be" failed to take action years ago to stop the emphasis on the individual and twisted the rules to "reward" the individual player rather than the team concept! (I.E. "palming the ball, traveling, crab walk or hop, etc. etc. etc!) I'm sure one of the older posters could probably express my thoughts in a more eloquent manner.....and would encourage you to do so!

I don't think you can say that just yet. As far as I know he has a great rapport with the management as well as the players and that's the kind of coach that I think when it is all said and done would be able to get the most out of the players. He's someone the players want to play for and that's very hard to do in today's "me first" NBA.

Alright Y'all here's the thing........

I've been doing a bit of contemplating lately and this is how it is.....

We all need to stop hatin' on Ty.....

The dude has obviously been following the game plan laid out by the FO!!!!

The past two years strategy-

1. Play the vets get them their numbers and hope to flip them for assets in a trade

2. Play the young guys just enough keep their league value low allow us to sign them for less

This year's strategy-

1. Play the young guys big minutes given them the opportunity to shine but produce many losses giving us a chance at a potential superstar

2. Play the vets enough minutes to show their value and flip them at trade deadline

Soooo...... Don't hate Da Playa hate Da game!!!!
Well said, Zulu, well said. You are pretty much right on.
