Draft: The Player the Jazz Need Most is...Harrison Barnes

When the Warriors kept their pick, any hope of getting Barnes went out the window. I'd take Barnes as high as #2 as he's my favorite player in this draft and a guy I would love to watch every night.

Yep, Barnes isn't going to slide too far, maybe 5-6.

He would sure look nice with Favors on that front line.

We have the assets to make it happen. I really like KOC and if he can swing it without overpaying, it would sure be nice.
I keep looking at Cleveland that they may be looking for a nice veteran to complement the roster. Sacramento... Who knows what Portland is thinking.

Barnes is a poor, poor version of Glen Rice. He'll be nothing more than an average starting player at best.

Don't confuse "favorite" with "best". There's no doubt I would take Davis first but I would seriously consider Barnes at #2. I think he's going to be an excellent player in the NBA. I just wish it was for the Jazz.

That makes more sense. Not being a contrarian, but what aspects of Barnes' NBA game do you think will shine? What will he be excellent at doing?

The same things he was good at in college....shooting. Although if you take off the media hype and just look at his tape and numbers, you'll realize that his shooting is overrated. Fact is, if Barnes wasn't hyped coming out of high school as the top prospect and a Pre-Season All-American before he even played a game, he wouldn't be going this high in the draft.

I think he's undervalued by some and overvalued by others (duh), but what you say is a pretty fair assessment. I've said this before, but Barnes (elite) 3pt shooting was exactly 1% higher than Marshall's (very problematic) % from 3.

I ignore that to some degree, because Barnes' shot is near picture perfect and I believe he'll hit for at least 39% in the NBA.

Not to be a dick but why?

This is a cop-out answer, but I see Barnes being a better pro than collegian. He looks like the kind of player that you can give the ball to as a shot clock is winding down and he can make something happen. Why do I think that? Totally a hunch. Two of my previous favorite players are his best/worst case scenarios: D-Wade and Corey Brewer (yeah, I thought Brewer would be a player...oops). We'll see. Wing players are hard to project college to NBA.

Yeah, I thought Corey Brewer would have been better than what he showed.

I like Barnes, but DWade is a terrible comparison.

I agree that he could be a better pro than collegian.

That's right people. Do not use your imagination or brains to try to brain storm up ideas/ways for the Jazz to get better. Thought and imagination never brought us anything useful. I mean who needs things like flight, the written word and antibiotics.

Shut down your minds and just trudge thru life. Thank you that is all.

Oh please. Stop being an ***.

Unless the Jazz can trade for a top 5 pick, they aren't going to have a chance at Barnes.

So why even discuss this? Unless we're willing to give up on Favors or package Kanter, we ain't getting a top 5 draft pick this year.

Sorry!

Why would I stop now? So becasue you think soemthing is unlikely to happen people should not discuss it? I do not notice you making a plethora of threads on topics you would like to discuss.

This post isn't even worth responding to. But whatever, I will.

Sure, discuss Barnes all you want. It's fun. Personally, I think he's more Durant than Dwade (as someone already sorta compared him to).

And yeah, the Jazz could use him. jazz could also use Nash, Davis, and Ray Allen. And I have no problem talking about those players.

You're the one that stepped out on a limb here. You're the one that ready waaaaayyyyy too much into my post and inferred:

But then again, stirring the post and becoming defensive at anything and everything that is said is typical of you.

False! Except for stirring the pot, I'll admit to that.

So let me get this straight...you think that "Sure, discuss Barnes all you want. It's fun." is fun but then you lecture us for doing so? Well is it fun or isn't it?
