Dwill to Minnesota???

Not according to Deron. But even if he is, how would you expect to build a long-term future with a bunch of presumably high quality rookies? After 3 years, they can all be free agents too.

I think Deron will stay but almost all players who are good sign with their draft team after their rookie contracts, assuming the team wants them. Dwill did, lebron did, wade did, carmelo did chris paul did....

Well, what would have happened to those guys if, for example, Carmelo, Wade, and Paul were all drafted by the same team in the same year (extreme example, I know, but it's used just to make the point). Would their teams have been able to pay ALL of them after their initial contracts were up? Would all three want to stay together, or would a desire to get more individual attention lead them in different directions?

Hey, I applaud your out of the box thinking. You have courage.

I'm not saying I'd do it. I don't know what Deron's plans are when his contract is up, but it's this kind of forward thinking that would've really helped the Jazz get something out of Carlos Boozer. Instead they held onto him and now he's walking for nothing. It's true you'd want to hold onto D-will if he really plans on staying in Utah, but only those that interact with him on a regular basis have any chance of gleaming this.

But you'd pick up a lot of assets in a draft class that looks really good. I don't think Rubio would come over to play for Utah, but he's a major asset that could be traded for something. Again, for daring to suggest such out of the box blasphemy I must say I love your balls. :)

I dont know what would happen but lots of those players say they want to play together right now as established stars.

I think the best scenario here would net one all star player at best and 2 role players from the draft. No way Jazz pick three players in the same draft that end up being all stars.

Funny how this comes out but yet you don't see lebron talking to the hornets or jazz . Being how that is the teams Dw and cp plays on . If he wanted to play with Cp or dw why isn't he talking to the hornets or jazz then?. Lebron will go to a big market or stay with the cavs. I hope he stays with the caves.

I just played 2k10 and traded our entire team for draft picks this year. It was fun we won a championship in 2 years and every year for 7 years after I bumped some ratings way up for players and made everyone 7' 6 inches. The only thing that sucked is Matthews would not resign with us since I started evan turner over him. win win for dwill he won MVP next season and NBA championship MVP with Minnesota. He was then traded to Lakers and we kicked his *** every time we played.

lineup

John wall, Greivis Vasquez
Evan Turner, Hayward
Wesely Johnson, Luke Babbitt
Derrick Favors, Ekpe Udoh
Demarcus Cousins, Hassan Whiteside

Well, we're no longer talking about Deron's post-rookie contract. He already signed that one. Given what he's said, I think the ONLY way he stays in Utah is IF the Millers shell out the bucks to build a contender. Deron HATES losing - in anything. Read the articles...whether it's table tennis or cycling, the guy will work and work and work to win.

Look, my previous post was a bit tongue-in-cheek. Deron has weaknesses (the careless TO's drive me nuts), but he's still arguably the best overall PG in the NBA. I've said in the past that Deron, Millsap, Matthews and CJ are core players the Jazz can build around. Deron is the superstar. The rest are 2nd-tier starters or great backups. I include the others with Deron because those 3 give great production for what they are paid.

What the JAzz need to do, IMO, is upgrade at the 3 and 5. Those are the 2 biggest priorities. Matthews and Millsap can be effective starters. But Miles is better suited to be a 6th-man and back up the 2 and 3. I just don't see him stopping the better 3's in the league. The Jazz MUST get a starter with the lottery pick. And if that means drafting a SF instead of the 5th-best PF, then do it. Then they MUST trade AK's expiring, or the Harp exception to get a big.

You get a core-8, then backfill with rookies and D-Leaguers. Forget about re-signing Korver and others for small specialty roles. You can't afford to do that.

I think he wants cp or dw to be traded to NYC. To make his decision easier.

I really don't like giving Negative Rep for anyone not named "Hopper", but this thread gets one.

Stop the insanity!

Well I don't know. Will LaBron let Deron dribble the ball over the half-court line before giving it up, or will he still play all five positions by himself?

I'm also in the camp that believes Dwill is as good as gone when his contract is up. So the question is...do you want to see him in a Lakers jersey or T-wolves? I'd prefer T-wolves.

hmm, I instantly thought Kevin Garnett when you said Kevin. Yeah I forgot about that freak of nature they have in Oklahoma, my bad

If utah got offered this they would really have to consider it.

I love dwill as much as the next fan but look at this value.

4,16,23,Flynn,Rubio

The jazz could run

Flynn,Rubio
Matthews/#9
AK/CJ
#4/Millsap
Okur/#16

plus you throw #23 in there somewhere.

Utah's draft could pan out to being something along the lines of this.

Favors, Aminu, Udoh, Whiteside plus you add Flynn and Rubio so are people really saying

Deron>Favors,Aminu,Udoh,Whiteside,Flynn,Rubio? Mix and match the draft picks however ya like(I did use a highly unlikely scenario but it could happen). Im just saying what it could be. It's not like sloan couldn't help both rubio and flynn one of them could at least average 15/8

The problem with your scenario is that Favors would most likely be gone at 4, Aminu most likely will not be available at 9, Udoh will be gone at 16 and Whiteside could be gone at 23. Rubio would most likely not want to play in Utah. Besides trying to re-sign all these guys in three years would be imposssible. I think I would pass. Instead I draft the BPA or try to move up in this draft. The I would actually use our assets to improve the team (sign and trade for Boozer - get players who actually have shown they can play in the NBA, and then use AK to acquire assets). The other thing the Jazz need to stop doing is overpaying for their own players/quit biddding against yourself (i.e AK, Ostertag, Okur)

Nice discussion. BUt NO.

The number one rule for GM's has got to be
1- Don't trade a star for a bunch of pieces, because the collective pieces will never equal the star.

This rule is slightly ahead of
#2--Never pay a 'tweener max money and
#3 Don't pay a pg max money

So I say you just can't do it.

The ONLY DWill trade I would do is:

Jazz Trade DWill to NJ.

Jazz get LeBron, Kobe, Dwight Howard, Dwayne Wade, Chris Paul, Tim Duncan, and the next 15 1st round pick NJ has, non-protected.

Jazz 2010-11 team:

Paul/DWade/Gaines
Kobe/Korver
LeBron/Miles/Wesley
Duncan/Millsap
Howard/Aldrich/Tomic
