That's not necessarily true, if you factor in endorsements, state tax code differences, etc. Also, maybe Deron cares about more than money. But he would make more money with the Jazz so that makes no sense.

He only signed a three year deal. Never said anything like "I want to retire here"
Durant and Rose make comments like that all the time.
If anything he hinted at media he would leave or look at his options.
He and his agent would never commit to staying in Utah past the end of his contract. A verbal commitment was all KOC or Greg would have needed and I guarantee you a trade would not have beem made. Just wait until he leaves NJ. They invested a ton in him. Yes, it was entirely their "fault" since Deron said he would not give them a promise. But that franchise is about to be devastated, having traded away three first rounders and Harris. Utah simply could not take the risk that Deron would just walk away. What makes you think he didn't?

Drafting garbage players like hayward did not help keep dwill happy. The direction of the jazz was awful and thy got 1 good pick last year in alex but kanter is the next jazz lottery bust

You are just proving my original point that Deron wasn't committed to the Jazz long term. I'll just blame it on the weed.
I was there and I was booing every time he touched the ball, but I wasn't booing him.
I was booing the fans that were booing.
I'm sure Deron knew that.
Felt so bad when I read the blog-post. Either he's pulled off some excellent damage-control, or he still really loves Utah, and we basically boo'd him right out of the building.
Yep.Deron wasn't going to commit unconditionally to a team that wasn't winning. Big ****ing deal. He could have demanded a trade when we weren't winning, but he didn't. That's enough proof to me that he likely would have stayed if we were still a playoff team.

In essence, Karl did retire with the Jazz. He stuck through many "mini-rebuilding" phases when the Jazz worked in new centers, guards or small forwards. It was with the blessing of Miller and Sloan that he left to play 1-2 years to pursue a championship and the scoring record, as it was very clear the next rebuilding phase would take more years than he and Stockton had left.Never said anything like "I want to retire here"

So did Karl Malone. Take those comments for what they are worth. Less than a roll of TP.

Karl was the one who screwed up his opportunity with the Lakers by making a play for Kobe's wife. Had it not been for that - and probably the resulting backlash from his own wife and family - I'll bet Malone would have played 2-3 more years with LA and gotten 1-2 rings and retired with the career scoring record.
You mean about Karl and Vanessa?Link?
