I was and still am upset about the loss of D-Will. He was the best player we've had in a long time. Losing him and Sloan so close together ruined my year. It may mean the end of jazz basketball as we know it. Who knows what Corbin plans to do as far as plays and defensive strategy?
I understand management's decision to let him go if they really felt he wouldn't re-sign. But did they talk to him about extending, or did they just go with what they were hearing in the ether?
That said, I also think the Jazz got lucky with the move up to the third pick and getting Kanter and Burks. I think both will be great for us. Now we just need a season!
I also worry that if the entire season is cancelled, and we end up with a couple more first rounders next year, that we'll have too many players up for a contract extension at the same time (b/c we will sign Kanter, Burks, and the other two picks to contracts next year). That could me we end up losing players to to a lack of spending, especially with the potential of a much lower and/or hard cap.
