Earl Watson Commits to Sign!

......and a suspicious Earl Watson decided to check her phone. Watson said that Freeman, who was furious that he took the phone, began to assault him, hitting him “twice in the face with her right open hand.” According to his claims, Freeman then grabbed and bit into his right wrist, “breaking the skin, leaving teeth marks and drawing blood.” Once she was done with the wrist, Watson says she proceeded to chomp down on his chest, drawing blood once more. But it didn’t stop there. Watson claims Freeman even tried to attack him with an iron, but he was able to knock the object out of her hand before she could cause any more harm.

We definitely need a new thread once Watson ACTUALLY signs, rather than this one, where he has just committed to sigh, and the other two Watson topics, which are about him working out for the Jazz.

Hope BTS doesn't need to backtrack on this report, as with the Scheyer report. (I'm wondering whether the Scheyer backtrack had something to do with Scheyer's agent realizing that the Jazz were making progress with Watson.)

I don't see it on Yahoo. Only place I see it besides Trib is Fanhouse (which is also reported by Hoopshype). Has me a little nervous that none of the "big" sites have picked it up yet.

It happened late in the day so the major sites probably won't pick it up until in the morning.

They're reporting Joe Alexander to the Hornets. How could that be any more interesting than Watson to the Jazz? :)

But you're right -- I should stop hyperventilating and wait until tomorrow.

Can't be any worse than Price... Right?
Remember we had high hopes for Hart and Knight, two decent veteran PG's - or so we thought. Watson's shooting has declined the last couple of years. He could be EXACTLY at the same point in his career as Brevin and Jason were when we signed them.

Most PG's don't have the IQ to run the Jazz offense. It takes some effort and a desire to do more than just dribble and jack up shots. But it's a good risk. Price is sometimes good in spots, but if Deron ever misses a game or two, there's not a chance in Utah the Jazz win the game with a Ronnie/Sundiata rotation.

Watson plays with an edge and toughness that Jerry Sloan is going to like. He is a defender. He battles for every possession. He understands the game and plays hard every night.

Life has not been easy on Watson. His 17 year old brother was killed in a car accident in 2004. Earls' arm tattooed with a sketch of his brother Eric. Between 8th and 11th grade Watson had 5 friends killed. All of this has formed Watson and his mindset. In 2006 he said, "The money we make is stupid," he said. "If you play for the money, you lose yourself and have no identity. I play for the love of the game, and I play to win.”

Ideally, I would like our players to not have any physical altercations with women. But man, if you're going to have one, I'd much rather you beat her than the other way around. Should've gotten Jason Kidd instead. That man knows how to throw his weight around.
