It's a tough call, because I'm not willing to have the media soft pedal the world to us either. I do think it would be awesome if the media just ignored everything Trump said and did, but that wouldn't be honest and fair reporting. But yeah, I agree that they love every controversial thing as it improves their bottom line. Capitalism and freedom.I lived out of the country for a few, but it's been a long time ago and I didn't watch the news or read the ppaper. For those of you who are familiar with both the US media and another country's media, are things reported vastly different here?
I think the media encourages these unstable people and entices them with coverage and media attention. Do any of you think this is a major factor or a non-factor?
I keep seeing the blame directed at Trump, white supremacists/race, political parties, religion, video games, etc but don't really see any of the blame directed at the media and journalism. I, personally, think the media loves profiting off of these events because they get clicks and views. #nightcrawler
Lol - I'll let you guys get back to your echo chamber. Clearly you're not used to having your own definitions of hate and racism applied to what you say. It's ok, I know you feel justified and that you're right and everyone else is ignorant. Everyone else is Cleutus..
"President Donald Trump quietly signed a bill into law Tuesday rolling back an Obama-era regulation that made it harder for people with mental illnesses to purchase a gun."

The part I don’t like is that he “quietly” signed the bill. A debate should have been had about what categorizes as a mental illness. I don’t trust the guy.

Trump's social media advisor definitely focused on what's important right now
Trump himself
Neither Brown nor Whaley made any negative remarks about Trump's hospital visit. It's all just made up, so Trump can make himself a victim in this.
Can a Trump supporter please explain why he is lying about this?
I wouldn't be too surprised if they push back the release on this, although I could see a Hollywood exec giddy at the prospect of "cashing in" instead.
Sorry, but I have zero respect for someone who advocates gun violence in their music, movies and games then decry and demonize legal gun owners and call for stricter laws. I don’t give a damn if it’s clear that their work is fiction. It’s hypocritical. I have a ton more respect for studios, actors, directors, artists and producers who don’t make those types of films speaking out about it.I wouldn't be too surprised if they push back the release on this, although I could see a Hollywood exec giddy at the prospect of "cashing in" instead.
Has there been any other specific mass shooting targeting Latinos specifically?
Also, this isn’t limited to just Latinos. See the cnn article I posted. Everyone is scared and feeling targeted.
To your question, I don't know. Would have to research it. I'm sure you're not telling me Hispanics have no cause to be alarmed. If you are, I don't share that opinion, given how often Trump has been "otherizing" the people coming into our country from south of the border. I think the fact that, like other demagogues in history, he is willing to find scapegoats for those people in a society feeling anger and stress in the face of social, demographic, and cultural change, scapegoats upon whom they can then focus their anger and fears, combined with an actual attack aimed at those "others", such as happened in El Paso, is likely to be enough to raise alarm among the targeted groups. Not sure how it could be otherwise.
I have not read as yet the CNN article you posted. Certainly, there is, once again, since it has risen its ugly head repeatedly in Western history, a rise in anti-Semitism. And yes, I would be wary at any very crowded venue at this point, it's probably wise to avoid such venues. But then I don't get out much to crowded places at all, and I am not feeling noticeably scared, or feeling targeted. In fact, I don't feel that way at all. My ancestors were very unwelcomed in this country, but that was a long time ago. I'll read the article, but, if "everyone...is feeling targeted", I guess I'm an exception.
