It's only been two games, but I'm optimistic on his potential to be a NBA player. Might be a bit hyperbolic, but in two games I can tell he's our best perimeter defender on the roster. He's also not scared to shoot it, and he seems like a decent shooter.

He's nearly 25, but I agree that he's likely to acquit himself well on the NBA stage. His defense is good enough to compensate for what is probably somewhat uninspiring offensive tools. And it appears he's become a good enough shooter to survive on an NBA floor.

He is averaging 30 in the G-League, so he has scoring ability to some degree. I just love what he's shown on defense. He doesnt know the team or anything and he had better help/recovery instincts than anyone Ive seen all year on the Jazz.

Harkless averaging 1.4 steals in 17 MPG with a 2.1 DBPM. Often guarding the best player on the opposing team, and last night played better defense on JJJ than anyone on the team.

Also, his 3pt shot looks good when he gets clean looks. Doesnt seem to know what to do when he's guarded, but when open they are always hitting inside rim.

Personally I would start Harkless over Svi as he provides better defense and has a shot at being a legit piece moving forward.

Svi has been good, but his erratic shot selection doesnt really make me excited for him moving forward.
Neither of them is particularly good, but for a bench piece Svi has a terminal case of thinking he is the major character. And he is not Clarkson to act like that. Harkless, at least, seems to be a hard working guy who wants to listen to coaches and fit in: there is a chance that he can be molded into O'Neal-type of player, and they are valuable when cheap. Since the season is a wash it makes sense for the Jazz to keep playing Harkless for 15-20 minutes every night to see if he is good to retain.

And I feel bad for Juzang but Harkless is obviously stronger and more explosive. If Elijah can reliably shoot at 35%-36% from the three Ainge will gladly kiss goodbye to Johnny.
