Both are weighing their options. Both are seriously considering returning … with Parker so much so that several scouts are claiming he’s coming back to school. But I think that’s premature. They have time. The deadline is April 27th to decide. However, if they declare after April 15th, there’s no turning back. They’ll lose their college eligibility. Parker is really NBA ready. He could obviously improve if he stayed, but he’s a NBA starter from Day One. He’ll get minutes and playing against the best competition is the best way to improve. The only good reason for him to stay is because he loves college, wants to lead Duke to a NCAA Championship and is OK just waiting. But as far as development goes, the NBA is his best option. Embiid is a little different. He’s rawer and may not see the minutes Parker would see as a NBA rookie. He also has a big unknown with his back that could affect his draft stock if NBA doctors get wary. He would probably benefit more than Parker from returning for another year of college, but it’s really hard to turn down a Top 3 pick. I think both will probably declare at the end of the day, but I wouldn’t be shocked if they stayed either. --Chad Ford

Also of note, Aaron Gordon has yet to declare, but he is leaning toward entering.

Exum wants to be a PG, not an SG, and wants to play for either the Magic or the Lakers.

If Jabari and Embiid stay, the 2015 draft class will have gotten a whole lot better. Say we don't get the player we want in this draft, and since the free-agent market is so bleak, how patient would you be with another season like this one to try and land Jabari or Embiid? I personally don't think we could be as bad next year. Trey won't be a rookie, Kanter will have had an offseason, will have Neto, 3 other decent rookies, likely a new coach who the team will get excited to play for, and just be older and wiser as a team.

I don't know who would crack first the fans or the Young Jazz players. Fans and young players need to see some success.

PKM has been pretty adamant that Parker will declare. That's the only thing keeping me from being at a 9 or 10.

The biggest gamble of the lottery isn't tanking, it is tanking and then players stay. Personally this would suck big time. This draft would blow if Embiid, Parker and Randle stayed. Embiid is stupid to stay, what happens if his back goes out and he can't play again. How are any of these guys going to improve their rankings, they are already in the top 5. If they really love college then they should stay for all four years. I would respect that more. I am worried and have been since rumors started that Parker wasn't a lock.

I was just getting tired hearing Exum telling everyone which teams he only wants to play for and now he is saying he only wants to be a PG. Kid is either getting bad advice or seems like his ego is inflated just a tad. I am rooting for Kentucky to win the whole thing so Randle leaves and a few of the others do too.

How worried am I? on a scale of 10 about an 8.

Yeah if a bunch of the top 5-6 players stop dropping out than this all could have been for just another guy. not that Allstar leader.

Also Exum needs to shut up. He is potentially costing himself money.

yeah, I'd laugh my *** of if the Magic drafted Smart (who they originally wanted), and then the Lakers took Vonleh or someone else. He could easily find himself a couple spots lower. If he wasn't such an unknown, teams would probably just draft him anyways., but being an international primadonna isn't the way to go.

Schroeder said he wanted Utah, but he slipped to ATL. Just because you want to play on a specific team, and they have a need for you, doesn't actually mean ****.

This worries me alot.
I cant handle another tank year and we need to get a really good player from this draft.

Gonna just have to win the lottery and get wiggins i guess

I've been saying this for a while now, but this "tanking" thing is not a one year deal. Just wait until we win the lottery, get Wiggins, then get the 5th pick next year and add another top flight guy. The ONLY way Utah can rebuild into a true title contender is to have 2-3 terrible years, 2-3 top 5 picks, and follow the OKC model (but just be dumb enough to let Harden go).

Embiid and Parker going back isn't a bad thing. We might end up with two of the top 3 players that was projected for this draft.

There's zero chance Randle stays. That was clear the day he signed with UK. Even if he wanted to, Calapari wouldn't let him.

Green, if there's no Jabari, Wiggins, Embiid or Exum for us this year, I think the ship will have sailed for us on that front. Our team will be better next year regardless of who we get, unless we blow it up again.

I agree that rebuilding is a 3-5 year process, but the Jazz did it backwards. The Jazz drafted the supporting cast, who will ultimately make us too good to draft the lead role. Unless we get lucky this year, prepare for another team blowup, or worse, mediocrity.

OKC didn't already have 5 lottery picks (two top 3) on their team before tanking.

And there's no way we're this bad again next year, anyway. We may not make the playoffs, but we won't have a bottom 5 record.

Utah has two top 5 picks now. If we get lucky this year that is 3.

But in all seriousness I do not see the FO pushing their luck that long with the general fan base. I think there is moderate pressure next year to show dramatic improvement.

The chances both declare is high, imo. I'm not super worried. All the poly-anna **** about wanting to stay a year and win a title usually gets wiped out when the reality of the amount of money truly sets in.

the top of the draft could be:

1. Wiggins
2. Exum
3. Randle
4. Smart
5. Gordon (if we play him at 3, I really like him)
6. Vonleh

all in all, that is still not a horrible draft class, and anyone of those could be a star if developed properly in the right situation. Still, I will sleep better if Parker and Embiid declare.

draft still has some high risk/high reward players like Lavine, Payton, Anderson, etc.

Stupid Thurl Bailey is a friend of Jabari's and he's been telling him to stay in school because he believes in the college experience. Thurl is a traitor!

Ford did state that he thinks both will end up declaring.

I also think Ford really hopes they end up declaring, considering he is one of the reasons why this draft class has been so overhyped. If Parker and Embiid don't declare, and if Wiggins doesn't show aggression offensively, his street cred is going to go down.

One of the many, many reasons.
