One of the many, many reasons.

very true.

I think at least 1 will declare when all is said and done. If one stays, I think it will be Jabari because of all the stuff he's said all year long. He probably doesn't want to go back on his words where he spoke so pompously against the 1 and done culture, even if it is the right decision for him.

This will sound weird, but I think Parker takes pride in his humility.

Also of note, Aaron Gordon has yet to declare, but he is leaning toward entering.

Exum wants to be a PG, not an SG, and wants to play for either the Magic or the Lakers.

If Jabari and Embiid stay, the 2015 draft class will have gotten a whole lot better. Say we don't get the player we want in this draft, and since the free-agent market is so bleak, how patient would you be with another season like this one to try and land Jabari or Embiid? I personally don't think we could be as bad next year. Trey won't be a rookie, Kanter will have had an offseason, will have Neto, 3 other decent rookies, likely a new coach who the team will get excited to play for, and just be older and wiser as a team.

On a scale of 1-10, how scared are you?

This is the ONLY year I ever plan to root for Jazz to lose. This has been the least enjoyable year of Jazz basketball I can ever remember. The tank took all the joy out of it. I hope it pays off, but even if it doesn't I'll never, ever root for Jazz to lose again. It completely sucked all the fun out of the experience.

This.

Even if we only got someone like Randle, I would like us to start trying to win straight away with a new coach (may be Hollins?) who could whip these young boys into shape.

I like to see the young guys really grow with some legit vets, and let's see if we can make it to the playoffs next year!!!!

Let's be honest, we've had the 2014 draft as our best change to land a superstar for a long time now. It would be pretty crippling if 2 of the top 3 prospects backed out. I'd be fine with it if we landed #1 and walked out of this thing with Andrew Wiggins. Outside of that...it would be quite a bummer.

I think we need to clarify the original post:

-Chad Ford thinks both will declare for the draft

-Exum didn't actually say he will only play PG and only for the Lakers and Magic. That's just Chad Fords theories.

I wouldnt be surprised at all if Parker and Embiid stay in school. Losing in the first round has to leave an itch for Parker to go back and Embiid could learn a lot from one more year of school and be the consensus #1. I've always viewed the Jazz 'rebuild' as lasting a few seasons.

My guess;

Chance that both enter - 70%
Chance that Embiid enters - 85%
Chance that Parker enters - 75%
Chance that neither enters - 10%

Does that add up?

My hope is to get #1, and Philly gets #2. Then we need to feign that we want Wiggins so that Philly offers us their #2, #11 from the Pelicans, #32, $3.2Million, and take on the last year of John Lucas III. Then with the #11 pick we take either Doug McDermott, TJ Warren, Zack Lavine or whoever falls. I would also be open to trading up with Kanter or Burke to get back into the top 6-7 if there is a player we like.

Then with the #2 pick we take the best and most transcendant player in the draft: Joel Embiid!

#2- Embiid,
#11-Doug McDermott
#23-Zach Lavine (Probably need to give up a second rounder to move up a bit to make this happen but it is doable.)

That is my perfect draft.

I'd rather have Wiggins.

Utah has two top 5 picks now. If we get lucky this year that is 3.

But in all seriousness I do not see the FO pushing their luck that long with the general fan base. I think there is moderate pressure next year to show dramatic improvement.

That long with the fanbase? One year? They haven't pushed their luck with anything. Their attendance is still good. Their ticket sales are still good. People are still watching on tv. T-shirts are still selling.

The Millers are making a lot of money this year off the Jazz. They haven't pushed anything yet.

Not so sure you are correct in that they are making money this year. Cant verify, but alot of empty seats and no media money are not good for small market teams for any prolonged stretch of time.
