empty the wallet for goran dragic

well whatever the jazz can offer i hope they do because hes worth it. And dont act like you know that they cant cut someone to get some more money to give to a free agent. plus you have no idea how much they have unless you work with the team which i highly, doubt.

I hope you're aware, and you probably are, but I'm bored, that the salary cap and the salaries of NBA players are public knowledge, right? And that "cut" players still count against the cap, right?

hmm no i didnt no that and now i feel stupid hahaha. what website do you go to to see that stuff? how much do we have to offer up dragic?

Someone correct me if I'm wrong, but didn't Houston start losing when Dragic was put in the starting lineup?
It seemed to me that he was putting up great stats, but losing.

Hmmm, sounds really similar to a big we have on our team. Someone remind me of his name......Big...something or other.

So what you're saying, from what I'm saying, is that Goran Dragic is the Big Al of point gaurds?

If (what you say from what I say)*2 is true, then we need to get those two on the same team.

I wouldn't pay 12 million for dragic. I seriously doubt anyone will. Especially with so many good pg's in the league. I would go at 5-6 Mill.

Emptying the wallet for Dragic? Tragic, really.

When you look at the talent level of teams in the NBA finals and when you look at the kind of players some Jazz fans here are desperate to get, you realize we are not even in that stratosphere yet

12M? Lulz. The more time he got, the ****tier the Rockets were. They finished the season 13-18, a stretch in which this doufus started most of the games.

I’m high on Dragic. Very high.

The more I think about it, the more I think he could be our answer at PG. The last few months of the season was the first chance he’s ever had to get some serious burn as a team’s starting PG, and he was exceptional.

IMO he is the best, most complete PG that’s (potentially) available to us. He’s a threat to score with the ball in his hand in a variety of ways (capable three point shooter, can get to the rim, good off of the PnR) yet also excels at creating open looks for teammates. Equally important, I like him on the defensive end. He’s quick, has good size, and is very long. If the team is making deep playoff runs in 3-5 years, this is going to be critical. Not saying he’s going to lockdown a Parker, Rondo, or Westbrook, but I think he could disrupt their rhythm a little better than our current guards have in recent years.

I think he’s a good, young player right now and is only going to get better with more years of starting experience. I think he’ll turn into a fringe All-Star PG and the kind that could be the cornerstone of a contender.

I would cringe at $12M a year. But I’d be surprised if he signed for less than $8M per. I’d be happy if we signed $8M - $10M.

I think $10MM is a tad high, I'd do 8 in a minute .. but this is the ballpark, for sure.

How could the Jazz do that?

I'll try to be simple here.

Cap will be around 60 mil next year.

Jazz are currently set at 52 mil.

Jazz have cap holds at 39 mil. This means 39 mil is held against the cap until they are resolved, so the Jazz sit at 91 mil looking at a 60 mil cap.

Even if Jazz renounced all rights on their cap holds (pretty easy if you look at the cap holds), they have a TPE over 10 million dollars that is held against the cap until IT is resolved.

This means the Jazz are sitting at 62 million no matter what they do, which is over the cap.

The most the Jazz could offer ANY free agent, whether it's Dragic, Deron Williams, or Ronnie Price, is the mid level exception, which is certainly not 8 mil.

Only way to get Dragic for that price is through sign and trade, and I doubt the Rockets have any incentive in doing so with the Jazz.
