empty the wallet for goran dragic

I refuse to read this thread, but Dragic is going to get a 4 year deal, and I'm not marrying Dragic for 4 years. Too unproven, not enough upside.

Cool. You didn't need to read it.

I'll trust your summary completely. But just to add a corollary, if I had a lotto team bereft of talent at the 1, I might overpay for him (at the MLE level) on a prayer. And if I had a true contender that needed a PG, I'd probably try to squeeze him for 2 years at the MLE, and accept him likely taking a deal with the cellar dweller for more guaranteed dollars. But teams in the middle like us should not be committing to Dragic.

dragic is better than any pg in this years draft and probably the next two drafts after that i think. I Like to Watch college basketball and there aren't many like All-Star Point Guards in the Making i dont think. Dragic is the closest thing. He's so athletic and he can shoot and drive and pass and hes faster than Devin Harris.

There seem to be a lot of teams jonesing for dragic. I would bet he is going to get over paid. I would guess in the 7 to 10 range. Maybe a millsap kind of deal. If we found a team to pretty much take Harris for nothing (draft picks) we could sign him. He is better then Harris. I think the 7 to 8 range is where I would pay.

Yeah. I could see the Suns (isn't that where he started his career?) overpaying for him. 5 years, 40M. Or something like that.

Does anyone else think that that kind of money we throw at Dragic will hurt us when it comes time to resign the core?

I just worry that if he gets 8 to 10 a year then the likes of Favors, Hayward, Kanter and Burks will expect that much as a minimum and most likely more than that.

It shouldn't hurt as in signing them a contract in the 8 to 10 would still give us the flexibility, but your point about the core wanting more is interesting. If the jazz where smart they would let the four test the market see what they are worth and either match or give them a little more. What they should have done with ak

If we are going to sign somebody to something significant, it should be sooner rather than later. Because that contract will be more manageable with less years on it, if we need to start handing out cash to our core in a few years. Going for somebody in 2013 will just make it harder. It is something I think KOC is thinking about.

I agree that we should add a piece this off season. My question is more along the lines of will the core compare themselves to whoever is signed and if they are much better (like Favors ect...) then I think they will use the signed player as a reason to get more money and suddenly the Jazz have lost pieces due to cap space.

I hope this is all making sense.

nows the Time to get him I just read Dragic and the rockets dont like each other or Something or cant agree I think maybe the Jazz are making room for Him or another guy like Ty lawson because they Just resigned Miller but I like Dragic the most I think but Both are Awesome and can be better starters than Mo
