Endearing Favors Video

Great video, really impressed by how well he interacts. I remember meeting Karl Malone for the first time in 1987 at one of these Jr Jazz camps. Dude just found out he didn't make the all-star team. Needless to say he wasn't in a good mood. He even yelled at parents with crying infants to "shut dem kids up!!!".

Classic Karl.

Was he hitting on the 13 year olds?

FWIW, player contracts do stipulate they do a certain number of team-sponsored community functions, but they get to choose which ones. thing is, vets get the first option, so a lot of the more desirable / less sucky volunteer jobs are off the table by the time someone like favors or jeremy evans gets to pick.

so i can see how it's technically correct to say he's not "required" to travel up and down the state... but he IS required to do something, and if this is what was left on the list by the time the sign-up sheet reached derrick, then yeah, he kind of was "required."

not that it matters. the fact is he enjoys it and tries to make it fun for kids, and that's the important part.

I'm impressed that he'd go out on the road that much. Five-hundred miles is a long way. He looked like he was really having fun with the kids.

I also liked the part where he talked about himself being a potential HOF player. Hope he achieves that.

It sure seems like he has the talent and desire. The only thing he needs now is that odd "putting it altogether" quality I can't quite define.
