Enes Kanter 3 point shot....

So... what's Kanter's career 3pt percentage again?

The Jazz are currently shooting .241 from behind the arc. I don't think he could make matters any worse. Besides have you watched him shoot? The 19 foot shot he keeps knocking down is great but if he can make teams respect him all the way out beyond the arc he can help open things up. We also have favors and gobert to attack the boards. Or maybe Lucas(.190) should keep taking those shots.

Please explain to me (sans soundbite) exactly why you think Kanter shooting the 3 ball would make things worse.

I would like to post a few videos that many probably are aware of, not to mention he is a good 3 point shooter and all, but he at least got the potential and this is something the Jazz need to stretch the game, either now, or the time they add a good player to the roster in the draft, it is something that will help the game a lot:

Of course hitting the 3 in an actual game is another story, and some might say anybody can hit 3's in practice; but any basketball fan that knows a shooter when he sees him would tell you that he is way above the average bigmen on knocking down the shots with a soft touch. I mean, WAY ABOVE. And after the surgery, this seems to be his perk to contribute.

If Ty uses him to set himself up in 4 or 5 positions a game to try the 3 (not to mention, following some decent scrimmages and work-outs), and if Kanter did it, it would create amazing space for the team compared to what space is already given inside right now. Everybody who says "this is the try-out year" is right and this is just another reason to try it.

In addition, people seem to be thrilled for Kanter to show his beyond the arc skills. Locke interviewed him in the Media Day and asked if he was ready to use the 3 point shot or something like that and Kanter went "I've made 3's before" then simply and jokingly cried out that Locke was unable to cover his 1st career 3 pointer soundingly enough. I think this is a hint for his mental readiness for getting set up in 3's.

Just like any intelligent coach, Ty has to worry about Kanter not getting lazy on posting up as he gets healthier in time, when he develops the mid-range and outside shooting and sees them as "easy money". Otherwise, the team gains a perk, when losing another.

I agree with op.

The new jersey game was the perfect time for kanter to shoot the 3.
Lopez was not even anywhere near kanter on multiple plays when kanter had the ball at the 3 pt line

I'm sure he and Corbin will find multiple chunks of meat that cannot be moved along the road to the end of the regularity.

The only problem I have with this is Kanter is our best offensive rebounder. So you take him away from the basket. However based upon the current crop of 3pt "shooters" the Jazz have, there is no way Kanter could be worse.

I'd tell kanter to shoot it when he's open at the top of the 3pt line. We don't want him just sitting up there waiting, so just when he's open.
