Enes Kanter or Brandon Knight?

^^ I agree, but using that logic wouldn't you err to the side of taking Kanter? Meaning, there's obvious debate as to who the bpa is .. if you're unsure, go big, right?

Perhaps there's some argument.

However, just a month or so ago Knight wasn't considered even a top 5 pick. I cannot help but believe that perhaps he's just the flavor of the week right now. Meanwhile, Kanter has been talked about as the best big in this draft for as long as I can remember.

I think they both need to be evaluated seriously. Knight's shot selection, less than stellar athleticism, and horrible turnovers worry me.

While I have worries about Kanter's athleticism and durability, and understand that we really need a solid player from #3 (and not Darko), I think Kanter's size and offensive ability are things we need to strongly consider.

KOC said the exact same thing. He said that the first thing they (Jazz FO) look at is BPA, if two players are really close then they look at size (don't listen to your wives guys: size matters), and then the last thing they'll look at is filling a need.

Probably not very wrong. Kosta lacked the mental part of the game to succeed though I think. I think Kanter has more fluidity to his game too, but yeah, he has a chance of being a complete bust.

Again, you do not even consider positional needs at #3. These players are so young that by the time they hit their prime Jefferson and Millsap will be long gone. And even Favors may not turn out to be the superstar we expect. If you believe Kanter is a lock for a 20/10 guy, how do you pass?

I am all for drafting the BPA but I define the "best" in BPA as best chance he will succeed with the team. You can bring up Michael Jordan and Sam Bowie all you want, but I think we can agree there is no Michael Jordan in this draft or any other draft since 1984. Also, he might not have become the greatest player of all time if he was drafted by Portland as he would have to play behind Drexler, although I would not doubt him with the hindsight.

With the roster we have, I believe Knight has a better chance to succeed than Kanter. I can be dead wrong but no one can tell for sure at this point. Even later in the season IF Knight is just an average player and Kanter is tearing it up for the Cavs, you can't just say we should have drafted Kanter because Cleveland has no one playing in front of him and they have a team much worse than us while we have 4 legit players in the big man rotation under contract.

Not sure why everyone loves Kanter, when the Jazz have quite a few Bigs. Like Zerol said Kanter will get 5 minutes per game and average 0.5 pts and 1.0 rebounds.

I agree. This kind of thinking would lead many to believe Deron wasn't a good pick because he spent so much time on the bench behind Capn Crunch and ...I forget the other guy's name, Coach loved him. Anyway, I'm not looking at how many minutes the prospects will get - I'm just looking at who I think is BPA, and I think you and I just have a different opinion on that. After you who you deem the BPA at 3 THEN you figure out how to get them minutes (trades etc.).

I hate it when people bring up Bowie - no one can predict injuries - but there has been a recent "flub" like this. Greg Oden over Kevin Durant. Portland didn't need Durant because they already had Brandon Roy. But they probably were still going with what they deemed BPA that year. I know I probably would've picked Oden too. It's gambling.

Knight seems to have the tools to be a great pg. Kanter has so many questiosn about injuries. Plus what assets do you want Utah to give away next year to get another great pg? The thing like about Knight was that he was a very willing passer, has great size, extremely young (with the most potential, maybe even more then Irving) decent 3 point shot! And that he would fill more a need for the Jazz, then Kanter would. I like Millsap, Favors, Jefferson with Kanter 1 has to go!

The Oden injuries where actually extremely predictable when you looked at it. One leg was uneven and he had a history of being glass.

No not never, but not until one of either Jefferson and Millsap is traded and Okur calls it a career after this season either. The same can be said about Humphries back then and Koufos. You have to understand, the first several years in the league are probably most important to a player's development. If he cannot get consistent playing time to develop, he might never live up to the potentials. Granted Kanter is very young, but he alread lost one year even before his NBA career started. Am I saying he will never be an all-star? No and he could very well be, but unlikely with us unless we went out of the way to clear room for him to develop.

His freshman assist numbers are worse than any major point guard now playing in the NBA had during their freshman year in college. Heck, compared to most they're far worse. I won't be pissed if we take him but I certainly won't be happy. He's not worth the #3 pick. He's a combo guard who can shoot. A combo guard lacking true point guard skills, lacking an NBA frame, lacking elite athleticism beyond his speed. Sorry but I don't see his body filling out and I don't see him becoming a true point guard. Kanter on the other hand has shown massive amounts of skill, an NBA frame, and is fairly athletic for his size.
