Enes Kanter vs Jonas Valančiūnas

ROFL....Tyson Chandler or J.Noah comes to mind.

so kanter's worst case is reggie evans and valanciunas' two borderline allstars or even allstar players? stop dreaming... valanciunas will never be the passer like noah or gasol, will never have noah's motor and never gasol's skills on the offensive end...

You've basically just described Hakeem Abdul Olajuwon. That would put him in the top 5 of all time.

Nope. Because of Chandler's defensive and because of his size and athleticizm similar to Amare and since Favors has better offensive potential than Chandler's, a hybrid of Amare and Tyson makes sense to me... But yes, Favors won't become the offensive force like Amare. But I like his potential on the defensive end...

The point I'm making is that saying a taller Reggie Evans is the floor of Kanter is just stupid.

Look, I know you have a boner for AK and apparently anyone not on the Jazz, so why don't you just go root for a team that actually has players that you like? Being a Raptors fan is great fun, you'll get to watch OKC draft Shabazz a year after missing out on Barnes.

why is there not a like button?

I said taller R.Evans. Evans was leading NBA in rebounding one season before he got hurt - which is what Kanter being taller can do as well. I may add Evans with better offense if that would make you happier.
And if you think I am dreaming it just shows that you have not seen JV play. His motor already at Noah's level and he is very capable passer.

See JV dropping 22 pts one Duncan and Spurs and tell me if there is no chance he would develop Gasol's skills on offense. In that game alone he made more jumpers then Kanter during his all rookie season...

Evans with better offense doesn't resemble Reggie Evans, and is probably a damn good player. I don't doubt that JV is a nice prospect, but pretending he is so much better than Kanter is just disingenuous. Especially as a fit next to Favors, Kanter is every bit as good as JV both now and likely in the future.

well, i saw kanter dominate bynum... playing good against long and athletic big men... kanter is taking many midrange jumpshots this year... look for example against okc... so what? kid has range, good shooting mechanics, a great touch and moves and footwork in the post where he has a better skillset as valanciunas on the offensive end. outside of kyrie irving, i think kanter has the most potential of becoming an all-star from the draft back in 2011...

I never said he is so much better then Kanter. I believe he will end up better player in the future, but please look at my initial post - I said it is a toss between them at this point, plus it is kind of funny to compare when one played 20+ games in NBA and other around 90+ games only and neither has been focal point of offense so far ( Even if Kanter's usage rate is much higher then JV's) . Nobody here has crystal ball and knows for sure what future brings.
Lets revisit this topic in 3 years when they both will be playing 30+ min a game.

AKMVP - This is the NBA. We are the Utah Jazz. We are not Russia, we are not Turkey, we don't have a millennia of fighting to sort out here .. hell, it's not even about Utah .. just the Jazz. Let it go bro.

Rep'd and IRL LOL....great post.

you can´t be serious man, I see the rebounding numbers of an eurolegue proven 24 year old BIG-MAN like Pekovic who averaged on 13 minutes 3 rebounds per game, in his first NBA Season. And I see a Kanter boy who was comin into the league with a big leck of playing time (almost 2 years not played in a real competition), who averaged 4.2 Rebounds on 13 minutes playing time.

I see Kanter as a player who can easily average like 20+ and 10+. Just look at Omar Asik from turkey even he is averging 12 boards per game in 30 minutes and Kanter is a much bigger rebounding talent than him.

@Edit:

Mirsat Turkcan who was the best euroleague rebounder of all time, said that Kanter was the most talented rebounder he has ever seen.

LOL who in the hell is that? Please refrain from using the opinions of whack *** basketball players as any metric for predicting a player's potential.

Kanter

Ceiling: Poor Mans Tim Duncan
Likely: Taller Al Horford
Floor: Nikola Pekovic

Valanciunas

Ceiling: Joakim Noah/Chris Kaman
Likely: Emeka Okafor
Floor: Andris Biedrins.

Ranking of Centers from 2011 NBA DRAFT (based off future)
1) Enes Kanter
2) Nikola Vucevic
3) Jonas Valanciunas/Bismack Biyombo (a tossup still)

Enes Kanter has a higher ceiling and floor then Valanciunas at this point. I think Vucevic vs Kanter would be more fair of a discussion as Kanter looks to be better overall in almost every way then Valanciunas. How Valanciunas managed to only get 22 minutes a game on Toronto's roster so far is very pathetic.

I said that he was the best rebounder of all time in the Euroleague, even a better Rebounder than Omar Asik actually is, who is grabbing like 12 boards per game in the NBA under 30 minutes per game. If Kanter could turn into a better Rebounder than him, it would be huge.

wow another idiotic post ... not surprised you suck so much at discussing religion/science but it appears you have no clue about basketball as well.
Please try to explain ( I know it is not possible as you just pulled stuff out of your a... ).. how on earth Kanter is better overall in almost every way then Valanciunas. Please include stats, achievements up to this level, wins on international level, physical data, etc. Good luck.

Lots of ifs. You guys think that given minutes it is a sure fact that Kanter will rebound over 12per game? Keep in mind his rebounding is down this season and it is mostly vs second units. Only game he started and played 30+ minutes he grabbed 8 rebounds. And it was blowout win vs not even top rebounding team.

For the record I think Val is a really good prospect too, but he probably needs 2-3 years to fill out his upper body and become a consistant post player.
