ESPN-2012 NBA Player Rankings

We should start a guessing game as to which Jazz player will be next and what position they will be ranked in. So far:

Shan Foster #498, 1.47 rating
Kevin Murphy #483, 1.85 rating
DeMarre Carroll #380, 2.72 rating

I'm not counting Ahearn or Howard since hopefully neither is back.
So we've still got

Braille
Burks
Evans
Favors
Foye
Hayward
Big Al
Kanter
Millsap
Tinsley
Watson
Mo
Marvin

I think Evans will be next and that he will come in at #370.

ESPN fixed their error. The tweet about DeMarre is now: "#NBARank DeMarre Carroll is #380. Thabeet is #443. This means the Grizz spent 1st round picks on 2 of the 150 worst players in the NBA"

even though the ranking is supposed to be based on current ability, a lot of voters seem to give reputation-based votes to veterans.

The exact wording they use is current "quality" of the players, which is pretty open to interpretation when you have 104 people involved in the ratings.

my point exactly. there are too many hands in the pie for the interpretation to be even remotely consistent, and there have been a lot of examples in last year's rankings and this year's of a player ranking higher than his current level because of career achievements and name recognition.

I'd take Demarre Carroll over Roger Braille any day of the week.

And twice on Sunday. They've gotten to 371, which means I will likely be proven wrong soon when someone other than Jeremy Evans is 370. He'll probably be ranked higher due to winning the slam dunk contest.

Tinsley came up at 347. He's listed as a FA though. Didn't the Jazz pick up his option already?

EDIT: His rating is 2.91.

Holy @*&$ Jeremy Evans and Tinsley are considered worse than Earl Watson, Raja Bell, and CJ Miles?
107 people need to get croch-wrecking balled.

Look at the bright side. Evans went up 88 spots from last year solely based on him winning the slam dunk contest.

EDIT: I think it's also somewhat offensive that Evans is ranked behind Von Wafer. Sure, winning the slam dunk contest doesn't necessarily mean someone is a good NBA player, but it's a lot more than Von Wafer has ever done. The tweet about Wafer is pretty funny.
