ESPN-2012 NBA Player Rankings

if i were starting a team and could have one of the two, i'd take sefolosha. not as potent a threat from the arc, but probably a more complete offensive player, and miiiiiiiiiiles ahead on D.

My thoughts exactly. Sef also seems willing to do the hard work stuff on the court that Chalmers acts like he is too go for.

I think my hatred for Chalmers and his over confidence due to playing with 2 of the top 10 players and 3 of the top 40 players, is coming out right now. I apologize to anyone who's feelings I have hurt.

Ditto for Shane Battier at #107, although reputation also plays a part with his rank, I suspect.

EDIT: referring to him being overrated for being on a Championship team. He's a great roleplayer, but not a great player.

Yes to both points.

I've got no problem with giving a player a bump for playing well in the playoffs the previous year.

You bring up a good point. The problem is that if the HEAT don't win the title again for the 2012-13 season then Chalmers' ranking will fall dramatically. Also, adding Ray Allen and Rashard Lewis probably means more non-traditional line ups. What that means is that James, Wade and Bosh will be playing in crunch time. I would guess that either Battier or Haslem will also be playing. That leaves one spot left. Who do you choose out of Allen, Chalmers and Lewis? I think that the answer is simple.

it should be an over all ranking. but it does look like they just took the last few games of each player and ranked him according to that..

Marcus Thornton, Derrick Williams, Pekovic, Hayward are all > Chalmers.

So's Harris, Teague, half an Odom, Turner, DeRozan ...

Hell no. I would take Chalmers. They are both good defenders (Sefalosha is overated in that category though, imo), and Chalmers is a much better offensive player.

I see my Avatar has cracked the top 100. I wonder how high or low he will go. So much for the all experts on here who didn't want him on the Jazz.

Are you a reincarnation of the poster (exact name's not coming to mind) that loved AK and asked to be banned?

Now in actual response to your quote, these rankings are suspect at best in the sense that there are 104 people told to rate the players on their "current quality" whatever that means. Then you thrown in the fact that AK didn't even play in the NBA last season. I'm sure a lot of the people doing the rankings saw him play in Russia. Maybe they watched him in the Olympics, but that's not a very big sample size.

I'm always confused about what "high" and "low" mean in contexts like this. Which one is good?

Well, obviously, the lower the number, the higher the ranking, which is why I wrote it like I did. Yes, I agree, they probably did watch the Olympics which is why he's getting a high ranking. You think watching him play this summer might change some of the attitudes on here. But they're so blind with hate. Prejudice clouds people's judgment.

Put it this way, Nightmare, I joined this site, I believe, the first year of its existence. In fact, for two straight years, I did a news report after every game like you would see in the newspaper and had it posted on the site almost always within 30 minutes of the end of every game.
