ESPN Insider: Blazers eye Matthews (why?)

If I was Portland, I'd offer him the full MLE. If we match it, it straps us even tighter moving forward. If we don't, it's no big deal to them.

Those Spurs!

They're always trying to pick off our players!

Those pansies!

Oh wait, maybe.. Just maybe... These other WC teams see something that we all saw in Matthews... He's a pretty darn good player.

Except there's a finite amount of money to go around and the Lakers are one of the few teams over-the-cap that are going to blow/use their MLE (and already did, so Matthew's isn't joining the Lakers). The Blazers are a team that would spend, but they'd be beyond retarded to spend any significant coin for a guy that will be at most a backup when they already have 2 or 3 other options already. The Bucks aren't spending significant money either.

The Spurs might, after Jefferson bailed them the **** out. But they typically don't offer the MLE to anyone that isn't deserving of more than that (whether looking at production or market-value).

There is no reason for the Jazz to offer Wes anything right now. They have too much in play with the Boozer situation and 'interest' is not 'offers.' Ignore the hysteria and do everything in order.

Me neither, but I am a dip ****.

dip stick?? hmmmm but stick has 5 letters? Whatever could you mean?

OT: Jazz aren't trying to keep matthews to make jazz fans happy. they are trying to keem matthews because he's a great player. He'll never be a superstar but the guy can ball.
