ESPN Insider - Why a Millsap-Gasol trade works

Wow.

I actually agree with everyone here.

WTF is this article? How stupid do they think the Jazz are?

Maybe like what Franklin was saying, and throw in MKG, but even then, it still feels like we gave up too much. Plus pairing up and old Gasol with a very young MKG and Favors doesnt really do us any good. We would still be waiting on Favors and MKG to develop.

But MKG wasnt even suggested.

This trade idea is possibly the worst I have ever heard.

for starters, i hate the "wrong side of 30" argument. there is no wrong side of 30. some of the all-time greats needed until their 30s to really understand the game and put all the pieces together -- that was true of jordan, true of dream, certainly true of our franchise's best two guys.

so the argument against pau isn't that he's 32 - the argument against him is that he is 32 with two bad knees and a bad back.

Thats true. Good point. My comment about Gasol being old kind of hinged on his injuries.

Pretty much what you said is true.

Gasol is a top 5 center. He may be the best big in the league. I think he'd love it here too being the focal point of our team. If we have a realistic chance at trading for Paul I hope we take it.

Would do it for Jefferson and maybe Millsap if sweetened enough. Seeing Duncan perform so well at 36, its tempting to get Gasol if he would have 4 strong years left. Jefferson has taught Kanter and Favors the low post game. Gasol could teach them high post and pick and rolls.

Yeah we're totally going to hand Millsap to the Lakers. "So Lakers, rock bottom? Over the cap? Need a mid-range power forward to play with Howard? Well here's Paul Millsap! All we ask for in return is Gasol and the ability to trade Kanter to the Bobcats."

Fixed.

Wow I didn't even notice Jefferson involved in this. Yeah we hate having this logjam so much, we'd rather have massive hole at the bigs position

Step 1: Trade away three of the four big men while getting a soft PF in return.
Step 2: Depend on a raw 21-year old on offense.
Step 3: Get Alek Radojevic to come out of retirement so we'd actually have a starting centre. He knows the system.

There it goes.. Lobbying activities of make an awful trade look like a subtle move for Jazz through the media (espn) & its ****y article writers. You gotta save Lakers right?

I have been watch the Bobcats for fantasy basketball reasons this year. Kemba Walker has been fantastic. He is posting a PER of 19.1. By comparision Mo has a PER of 9.4.

I like the idea of getting Gasol. But if we are giving up Millsap and Jefferson we have to keep Kanter. If we replace Kanter with Burks I would seriously consider this. Or we could replace Burks/Kanter with some draft picks.

Our main rotation could be

Kemba/Watson
Foye/Hayward
Marvin/Hayward
Favors/Kanter
Gasol/Kanter

If we give up Burks we can replace him in the draft. Ideally we would need one more big for depth but picking up the 'point guard of the future' to go with Kanter/Favors/Hayward would be worth it in my opinion.
