ESPN on Kanter: Top Ten Sophmore Bigs

6. Enes Kanter, Utah Jazz (.516, plus-.051)

"Jazz fans nervous about a possible post-Al Jefferson era have to be sleeping better after Kanter's play this month. He's averaged 15.5 points and 9.5 rebounds in six games while shooting 68 percent from the floor. That's 68 percent! His wins above replacement for the month would translate to more than 10 for the full season, which would mark him as one of the top 30-35 players in the league. He did this in the preseason as well, but then when opening night rolled around, Kanter was somewhat buried in Utah's deep frontcourt rotation."

Kanter should be higher on the list, and trust me, Jazzfanz are not nervous about the post Jefferson era. Insert excited rather than nervous (Love Jefferson as a person and i do not mean any disrespect to him, but we cannot win big with him as our number one guy.

Who else is on the list? I don't need the descriptions as I assume this is an Insider piece.

1. Marcus Morris, Phoenix Suns
2. Tobias Harris, Orlando Magic
3. Tristan Thompson, Cleveland Cavaliers
4. Greg Smith, Houston Rockets
5. Nikola Vucevic, Orlando Magic
6. Enes Kanter, Utah Jazz
7. Derrick Williams, Minnesota Timberwolves

Thanks. I haven't seen all of these guys play much, but why is Greg Smith ranked above Kanter?

Good question, I think i misunderstood the list because initially i took a cursory glance at it. The list is sophmore players who have improved the most when comparing their rookie numbers to their 2nd year numbers. Even still, I think Kanter should be number one, if you factor in the growth we have seen from him in the last month.

Only Jazz management is nervous about the post-Al era. Them and a couple random posters here.

We're more worried the post Al era won't start next year

I am so afraid that the JAzz will lock up Jefferson for 4 years or even sign him to a 2-3 year deal which will cement us as a 37-43 win team that can't play defense, can't compete with the best, and can't win on the road. If Lindsey and KOC decide to re-sign AL it will greatly reduce the high level of confidence i have in Utah's FO. And as if right now i think the FO is a top 5-7 in the league. If AL is resigned and if Mo is locked up longterm, I will think them to be 25-30. Thankfully, I do not think this will happen. Personally, I think the JAzz need to let both Al and Mo walk. they do not really help this team going forward.

WHAT THE ****!

This is not top 10 sophomores? It is top 10 sophomore bigs? I would be pissed if Kanter was number 6 on top 10 sophomores but to be number 6 on just sophomore bigs?

And yes, That draft was super weak when you look at it.

Besides Klay Thompson and Irving, who is really better or shown more promise?

Oh, I guess Chandler PArsons should be mentioned.

I am nervous abuot the post-Al era... I am terrified that it won't start for 4 more years.
Until he is signed with another team, and the Jazz haven't picked up another veteran to play ahead of Kanter and Favors I won't sleep well.
