ESPN Rankings

I still laugh at all the love the Wolves get. Them and the Celtics definitely shouldn't be ahead of us.

When you compare Utah-Minny or Utah-Boston, I see the point, but I also can't fault anyone (especially a more casual Jazz viewer) for thinking the Jazz' record is indicative of the team they are. We all know they've started with an easy schedule, but I notice the standings today and I was shocked. The Jazz have played 13 home games (getting close to half) but only 6 road games. I can see why someone could be skeptical that they can keep this up.

Now, from my perspective as a fan of the team, I've been impressed with the Jazz so far (vs. expectations). They were coming together nicely and maybe they have more potential than I thought originally. They currently have 3 more wins than I thought they'd have. But I'm still cautious. The next nine games in 14 nights will be a huge test: 6 on the road plus LAC, LAL and OKC at home.

Add to that half of these games where back to backs for opponents coming to SLC and missing their starters or even best players.

As opposed to other teams in the league who never have to play teams at home on a second night of a back to back and always have opponents at full strength?

Also, we're one of the deepest teams in the league - with this crazy schedule, players will get hurt - that will work to our advantage - the Jazz can afford injuries - most teams can't.

Also intended to point out that nobody in the league has player fewer road games. The Clippers have also played 6 on the road, and I also expect their record might adjust a bit when they start to make up those road games.

Its funny how much attention Clippers are getting for how improved they are and they are going to the playoffs. Our 2 teams are playing same level of basketball. Easy schedules won games they should have(outside of damn raptors game), lost to tougher teams on road. The only difference is they beat LA at home we lost in OT by 1 shot, otherwise we have the same record. They might slide down a lot once their harder schedules hits as well. 15 of their next 20 are on the road. All of the experts will be saying on ESPN what is going on with Clips and why the recent struggles. The same people will say see, I told you when Utah does the same thing. And they are ranked 6th in that ranking.

Well, we will have a chance to make a huge statement on Wednesday. The Clippers will have no excuses this time, as their whole team (including Chris Paul) is healthy. If we win out this week, we could possibly strangle away second place in the Northwest Division and the Western Conference from Denver.

I don't think any NBA teams have ever been left out of the national title picture because of a low ranking like this.

Thank heavens for that. At least the NBA uses a playoff system to determine its champion and doesn't have to rely upon the court of public opinion unlike some other unnamed popular sports entity.

Jazz never get love. They are almost always in the playoffs and they have one bad year (really more like 1/2 a year) and people write them off completely. Well guess what, the Jazz are right back in the playoff hunt.

Minesotta has better road record and better conference record then us, maybe thats why?

Personally, I think that the Jazz were intentionally struggling the second half of last year because they wanted to get another lottery pick. This turned out to be a genius move because it landed us a high pick in Enes Kanter than we would have not got without that second lottery pick (that became Alec Burks). If a team has two lottery picks, it increases their chances at landing a top 3 pick. Look at the two teams that moved into the top 3 of last year's draft (Cleveland and Utah). Both of them had two lottery picks. Had we made the playoffs last year, we likely would have lost in the first round and only ended up with one lottery pick. We also would have been less likely to have landed the #3 pick that got us Enes Kanter. In reality, the Jazz are now BETTER off because they DIDN'T make the playoffs last year.

I hope this pisses the Jazz off, Millsap plays better when he's mad. "In reality, the Jazz are now BETTER off because they DIDN'T make the playoffs last year."....would u agree that they should the playoffs this year though?

Maybe not should but I think they will be. I would not be suprised to see them pull off a round 1 upset either (depending on matchup).

So 8 teams ranked ahead of the Jazz have worse records, including 2 below .500.

Yeah, sounds reasonable.

Your understanding of how mathematics works is only off by about a million miles. Nice try.
