ESPN:Utah's draft focus if it can't get a PG

I'd like to see the Jazz get an upside pick like Giannis or Pelle with their later picks. They've already proven they can sign mediocre role-playing vets.

If the Jazz don't get a PG in the draft, the Jazz can always set their sights on a player they once considered...

... a player who was always destined to be a member of the Jazz.

Jimmer.

Available in the clearance section.

I really would like to get Dario Saric. He got a good chance of being the next Gallinari. Best prospect from Europe at this years draft. But he will not contribute in short term, he is still 18.

So he fits in perfectly with our tank plan next year to grab a superstar in the 2014 draft!

Corbin does seem to look after the "Journeymen" NBA player. Not sure Foye Watson or Tinsley would get this much time on any top 16 team in the league.

Jazz are now a top 16 team according to standings. Theory disproven.

CJ

Also, I think the Jazz would look at McCollum in the scenario the article mentions, if they think he can really play PG.

I believe that if Jazz do not get top 3 PG, they will draft CJ with their GS pick (if he is still available). I bet they like him from a "character fit" perspective. His assist numbers are down because he had to carry the offensive load at Lehigh. While lacking speed/ explosiveness, he has a high hoops IQ, can hit from outside and take it to the rim. Could be a solid PG backup.

If we strike out on PGs on draft day, then you gotta believe they'll make hard runs at Bledsoe and Teague.

Jazzfanz will never learn.

You really think we will trade for Bledsoe? What about our history says we will trade for Bledsoe? What are we even going to trade for him?

Mark my word woth 200% guarantee, we will not go after Bledsoe. He'll have a price and the Jazz won't pay.

It will just be another lame offseason. We'll probably ink a few more vets and call it good. Then you and everyone else will say, I bet they are waiting for the trade deadline, that's where they'll make their move. Then they won't. Then you will say, just wait til the offseason. Then nothing will happen. Wash, rinse, repeat.

He is a safe pick. Could be a poor man's Chauncey with his shooting and ability to use his size and strength to get to the line effectively. Averaged about 7 FTA a game his last 3 years. Very little chance he drops to the GS pick so would have to be our pick and not sure he fits the BPA profile at 14ish.

What kind of sucks is that this draft only seems to be 12 deep and we will likely be 14-16.

1-McLemore
2-Smart
3-Olidipo
4-Otto Porter
5-Bennet
6-Zeller
7-Carter-Williams
8-Shabazz
9-McCollum
10-Burke
11-WCS
12-GR3

Len (I think he might be a bust... his stock will fall imo)

Kelley Olynyk Don't think his skill set will translate to the NBA to the degree that he should be a lottery pick.. Kind of a bummer to be honest. If Len and Olynyk Get picked in the top 13, that may prove to be a big blessing for JAzz Fanz... MY personal feeling though is that GR3's stock will rise and he'll get picked 10-13 ish.

Who else in this years draft is worth being a lottery pick? not sure i know of anyone.

I'd love to have GR3 on the Jazz

This comes from NBAdraft.net
Strengths: Not to be confused with NFL's RG3, "GR3" is an above the rim athlete with star potential ... Smooth. Makes everything look easy. Wing player who attacks the basket and makes highlight finishes ... Quick, explosive leaping ability. Gets to the rim in a hurry ... Has a good feel for the game and solid perimeter skills ...Versatile wing with the ISO ability to create shots off the dribble as well as the vision to find teammates ... Runs the floor well and has the fluidity and body control to make acrobatic plays at the rim in transition ... Surprising all around skills for a freshman ... NBA ready body. Focused. Shows strong maturity, both mentally and physically, for a first year college player ... Good decision maker ... Very efficient scorer. 59% from the floor ... Competitive ... Unselfish. Team player. Excellent form on his shot, and shows range to knock down the college three ball consistently. Father was known for being a deadly pull up shooter, and GR3 shows potential to develop the same skill ... Understands spacing. Adept scorer with the ability to find cracks in the defense and moves well to get open ... Solid defender. Gets low, good fundamentals and effort ... Slashes to the basket well for rebounds. Understands positioning and boxing out ... Physical strength and explosiveness allow him to out-rebound bigger opponents. Good anticipation. Very good second leaper allows him to grab a board and make a follow up dunk ... Good length. Wingspan likely in the 6'10 range ...

Weaknesses: Despite being the team's most talented prospect, at times can be too unselfish. He is the third option on the Michigan team after Trey Burke and Tim Hardaway Jr., and has accepted his underclassman role being more of a glue guy who looks for baskets within the flow of a game ... Some may question his ability to be the star of a team because of this ... At 6'6, he's on the smaller side for the 3 position, but could conceivably develop into a SG over time ... Offensive game shows nice potential but still has a lot of room for improvement. Creating and pulling up off the dribble ... Shoots a hair below 70% from the FT line. Nothing too concerning but should be better considering his excellent form ... Should concentrate on becoming a vocal team leader. Can also improve on his on ball defense ...

Its almost a given GR3 will be pretty high with Michigan in the spot light. How much of his play is a result of playing with Burke? Quite a bit. Poythress had no such luxury and had a similar year stats wise, and is bigger and just as athletic, so could be worth a lottery pick if he declares. Austin is a bean pole right now but could be a monster if he fills out at 7'1". His fundamentals for the game are good and has a jump shot, so worth considering.
