ESPN western conference predictions

Anyone that thinks okc is overrated is so very foolish. They have the best player in the nba........ I see okc being a game better then the jazz this year and a 2nd seed overall.

"experts" just do not understand how bad Boozer really is. To look at that as a step backwards is laughable. They mentioned the pick up of Jefferson, but not the Raja Signing or the fact that we drafted Hayward. Its all up to chemistry. This team is as talented, if not slightly more than last years. If the players are all on the same page, the Jazz could be very dangerous.

...exactly! The Jazz, unbeknown's to the so-called "experts"...increased there team basketball IQ by a factor of 10 by adding Bell and Hayward...and subtracting Boozer! Plus, Jefferson gives us a genuine inside presence that could easily resulted in total offensive domination! If he picks up the pick and roll while staying in the low block and not becoming enamored with some funky turnaround jump shot...we could be in business!

I say 50-32, I know we have a good team, but what about chemistry issues? When you integrate a big piece into your offense, it takes a while for everyone to adjust.

This is how I see it: Jefferson>Boozer, Bell=Matthews, Hayward>Korver. Our team is not distracted by the whole Boozer situation anymore. We have players who want to be here. Jefferson has never played on a good team with a dominant pg, so I expect him to take full advantage and become an all star. Boozer did nothing before he came to us, so imagine what kind of player Dwill will turn Jefferson into. Chemistry should be great. Also, Millsap finally has his starting role which hopefully will give him extra motivation to prove himself.

Maybe I'm optimistic, but I am very excited for the season to start. I love every player on this team. No low character guys now that Boozer is gone. I say we finish top 4 in the west.

We have a whole training camp together. I realize thats not like playing a regular season game, but with dwill at pg especially, I see us having great chemistry. He will get everyone involved. We have guys who actually want to be here and win. Everyone should be on the same page.

I am with Sportsnut1232 on this. These guys are pros who all want to be here and have great talent. With Deron leading the team and Sloan coaching how can we have any type of chemistry problems? Deron alone makes a team better almost immediately. The Jazz have a tuff start to the season but I love their overall schedule and am very excited to see how they do.

I would say that Bell = Matthews + Korver, he brings the defensive effort of Matthews and the same shooting as Korver. If Hayward brings anything, that'll be a bonus. Other than that, IAWYP.

I didnt mean problems, more as there will be learning curve for everyone to get used to how each other play.

This.
Jefferson replacing Boozer is at least a wash, IMO. And if you look at it as Millsap replacing Boozer and Jefferson replacing Memo, then it's an upgrade. Raja is also at LEAST as good as Matthews. Or Miles = Matthews. Either way, NOT a downgrade. And Korver...c'mon, the guy averaged ONE made 3 per game. Losing him is a non-issue, even if Hayward doesn't play at all.

It might take the new guys, especially Jefferson, time to learn the offense. But the Jazz also struggled last season in October. I'll be disappointed if the Jazz don't win about as many games as last season. The bottom feeders have improved a bit, but I still think 7 of 8 playoff teams in the WC win 50 or more games.

Durant is NOT the best player in the NBA. Wow. He IS one of the best Offensive players for sure. The rest of the team is really not much to be excited about. They might be better than last year, but barely, if at all.

Why the hell are ESPN drones always sucking the Nuggets?

Unless they found the fountain of youth, why do they think that the decline of Kmart and Billups won't have a negative effect on them?

I'll also never understand their obsession with the Mavs. They're only getting older and more frustrated anyway.

I just don't understand why ESPN is constantly talking about these two teams. It's not 2006 anymore guys.

unlike most around here i think jeff green is an excellent young player. Would fit well on jazz. Westbrook is explosive and is still learning how to be a pg and durant is on his way to being the best player in the leaGUE. While lebron and wade have been partying it up durant was in vegas with his summerleague team and was with team usa. When you have a player like durant you are going to be a top 4 team every year. Ill make sure to bring this post back up after okc finish 2nd in playoffs

So you retract your statement that you posted an hour ago saying Durant was the best player in the league?

Jeff Green would be great to have I dont think anyone on here thinks he is bad.

OKC is overrated just like the Blazers were a couple years ago. They will be a top 5 team in the west because of Durant, but until they spend the money to put the final pieces around him, they will not get over the hump. Jeff Green is decent, Westbrook is a good pg, but he shot 41 percent from the field last year. Westbrook and Green will both be up for contract extensions, and imo, the Thunder will sign Westbrook and let Green go.

While I agree that Boozer is sometimes overrated in the media, Jefferson has a lot of the same problems. Many here posting about how great he is probably haven't even seen him play outside of when he faced the Jazz. He is just as bad of a defender! Just because he is an inch taller doesn't mean we have our "defensive big." He will probably pair up a little better against length, but he's no stopper. In addition, he's not at Boozer's level running the pick and roll. Hopefully, with Deron's help, he will pick this up quickly.

I love that we got Jefferson because he's younger and maybe a better fit, but in the short term swapping him and Booz is a minor step backwards.

I think that playing on a bad team in Minnesota would hurt ones desire to play defense. So like Boozer could occasionally play decent defense, I think Jefferson will up his defensive intensity. Hopefully this will not be for a few games a year though like Boozer. Jefferson is definitely a better shot blocker. Hopefully make things tougher for people driving in the lane. Millsap/Jefferson Jefferson/Fes is definitely a step up defensively compared to Boozer/Okur.
