Give your expectations for the Jazz for this season, what they'd have to do to get you truly elated, and how bad they'd have to be for you to be disappointed with the season. I'll start:

  • I expect a 7 or 8 seed in the playoffs.
  • I'd be elated if they get home court advantage. Or obviously if they win a playoff series without having home court advantage.
  • I'd be very disappointed if they don't end up with a winning record.

Who's next?

I would also be elated if Burke can somehow become a more selfless player, better passer, better shooter, and a legit NBA starter.

Trey if you're reading this - I still believe in you brah.

These are my expectations as well.

I'm pretty much the same. We need to at least make the playoffs. If things go very well, Hayward and Favors takes big steps, along with Gobert we could get home court.
Realistically, I think they make the playoffs barely after a hard fight at the end. What I am looking for is for them to not get swept like the last time. I want to win at least
two games. That would be a step. Next year obviously theyd need to win a series or two. 3 years from now go for the title.

I expect between 46-50 wins, which should win me lots of duckets, and i expect to barely get into the playoffs or barely miss them.

I would be disappointed if i lose my over under bet and the jazz win less than 45 games.

I would be honestly be elated if we just make the playoffs but since that is also kind of my expectation, i will say that i will be elated if we make the playoffs easily. (like we know we are in with like 5 games left to go)

Agree with colton and bag.
Only exception would be if we get terrible contribution from Trey or have injuries to key players. Then the playoffs go out the window. I expect DL to explore every option to get a quality veteran PG at the deadline.

I too have the same expectations as you do.

I'll be just happy with a winning record. We don't have a pg. think we need one to make the playoffs. Wasn't thrilled with Burke coming off the bench. Now he's starting and attempting to play defense against starters. That could lose a lot of games for us, plus a lot more minutes. Gulp.

I expect the Jazz to get 6, 7 or 8th seed.

I'd be elated if they 4th or above.

I'll be disappointed if they miss the playoffs or get swept in the first round.

Expected: Quin Snyder eats somebody's soul
Elated: 2 entries into the All-Star game
Disappointed: Another season-ending injury

Expected: Keep the monstrous defense and smother teams on the interior. Finish top 5 defense in the league. Marginal improvements offensively... less possessions in final 4 seconds of possessions, higher pace. Attempts at integration of Lyles with mixed results. Finishing position in the West - 7th-9th

Elated: Keep the monstrous defense and smother teams on the interior. Top defense in the league for the full season. Incredible improvements offensively - the offense is free flowing, quick. The countless passes around the perimeter from last year turn into more direct and purposeful attempts at creating open shots. Hood, Burks and Hayward turn into monster wing rotation and two of them shoot around the 40s from 3. Favors continues offensive improvements(better jumpshot, better post game) and becomes a legitimate all-star candidate. Burke gets rid of his hero-complex and distributes the ball to the better players on the team or Neto emerges as useful NBA player. Finishing position in the West - 4th-6th

Disappointed: The defense reverts to previous years and Jazz can't get into the top 10 in D. The worries about the compatibility of Gobert and Favors from before last season turn out to be real, their defense is still good , but they are not enough to cover for Burke and Burks and the team turns into an average-ish defensive unit, while the offensive fit turns out to be horrible and the spacing suffers with Gobert and Favors clogging the paint and Burke keeping chucking. Finishing position in the West - 11th-13th

Expected - 7th seed
Elated - 5th seed or higher, Gobert DPOY
Disappointed - Miss playoffs and no awards for any Jazzman.

Expected: 45+ wins--Hopefully the playoffs winning this many games is good enough for now.
Elated: Win a playoff series
Disappointed: Having a losing record. If this team has the players to eventually win it all they simply can't have a losing record, even without their best PG.

Expect - at least a 6 seed
Elated - championship
Disappointed - significant injury to one of our starters or key reserves, missing the playoffs

Expect:
I'm battling with myself over expectations. The incredible defense at the end of last season has me dreaming about playoffs. That said, when I think about how poor the offense was, and how stacked the West is, something in me starts convincing the other parts to lower expectations. In the end, I'm settling on playoffs, but I don't expect anything better than the 7th seed. For that to happen, the defense is going to have to pick up where it left off. So, I guess I expect excellent defense (top 5).

Elated:
Gobert finds reliable offense besides dunks and put-backs, Trey gets better, and the jazz pick up the pace of play to such a degree that the offense looks new. Hayward gets assisted on offense, and Favors takes another step forward with his jumper. The jazz defense is good enough to stay elite even with the increased pace. They're in the hunt for the 4-6 seeds.

Disappointed:
offensive stagnation and finding out the defense isn't what it seemed to be. Injuries. No playoffs.

ditto

I expect that Bolerjack and Harpring will be as unfunny as usual.

I'll be elated when we smash Cleaveland.

I'll be disappoint if Rudy goes through the season without at least one ejection for fighting/elbowing/flagrant to someone's face.

Based on what I am seeing, I am expecting a very angry forum here at Jazzfanz. I expect a record between 43 and 50 wins and battling for the playoffs. I expect to fall just short. I expect to see continued growth and to be excited about the team, the defense, and direction but the west is still too good, particularly without Exum.

I will be disappointed if we fail to make the playoffs, if Trey Burke does not make significant improvement and our defense levels off to just above average.

I will be elated if the Jazz win a playoff series.
