Exum extension

Understand what you mean bit it's really not the same. Exum is much more in the larvae stage.

Barnes had a championship ring and a gold medal and more combined playoff appearances than the entire 2015-2016 Jazz roster, and he was 23..

You can't just make up stupid like this.

Good job.

So, if Exum finishes out the season the way he has played these last three games, I'd extend him now for as much money as he wants.

I still think our front office should try to extend Exum this off season. I`d start off with offering him the choice of one of these 3 deals:

1: 4 years $50 million with a player option on the last year
2: 4 years $55 million with no options
3: 4 years $60 million with a team option on the last year

You want to pay a dude 10+ mill a year for a guy that puts up 5 points and 2 assists per game in 20 minutes? I hope the front office isn't that stupid. Dude should MAYBE get 5 mill a year

Yeah. You got it.

FO should only extend people based on their current production. If the FO extend Exum for 10-12 mill/year, do you think they would be expecting 6 points and 2 rebounds?

You're a genius.

I want us to get ahead of the situation for once. We could have had Matthews on a 4/$15 contract if we had been proactive. We could have had Gordon on a 4 year non-max deal with no options. Too often we seem to let other teams dictate our actions. It`s time to get ahead and take a chance.

I don't disagree but I think the poster's offers were a little high. Start at 4/40.

lol you don't extend mystical potential, you extend proven players. Jazz made mistake by extending Burks. Hopefully they learned from it. Let Exum prove he is worth the money. If he still sucks until trade deadline look to trade him and get something in return.

Don't be afraid to pay Exum. Be afraid to get another Burks.

If he blows up this year and gets a max extension, then GREAT!!!!

If he sucks, then re-sign him to a smaller deal and hope he blows up next year.

Why? Why waste money on failure hoping for it to improve? If he sucks in 4th year of his NBA career what makes you hopeful he will suddenly turn the corner?

Maybe because he is 21. Maybe because he's played one year so far.

Hayward was a rookie when he was 21.

So was Westbrook and a slew of others.

You freaking wasted 3+ years to get Exum. If you are Lindsey, you are praying he works out.

Or you cut your losses and move on. Not the first failed draft pick, not the last one.

Common theme with Lindsey.

BTW, how many GM's survive one botched top 5 pick? Yet, all Lindsey has is failed lottery picks.
