Exum Injured

Burke would be perfectly fine as their backup PG. They also have Mack. With Teague already their starting PG I doubt they would want to pay Schroeder $$$ in 2 years' time. Getting back x2 valuable first round picks will come in handy. Schroeder's value is unlikely to get much higher playing behind Teague.

I think they would think hard... it seems to me like a fair deal for both parties.

Burke is not perfect for anyone. Who wants a 36% PG who doesn't pass? The only reason he, possibly, doesn't have negative value is his low salary. Nobody is giving up a promising young talent on dirt cheap contract for 2 late first round picks. Get real.

Yeah, I'd be fine going after Dennis (whether Exum is fine or not), but it would take more than that.

It was when DeMarre Carroll got hurt too. Hoping for a similar result.

DMC was never thought of as a potential franchise changer though. The type of stress Jazz Nation should be feeling right now is off the charts. An ACL tear to Exum before he even remotely approaches his prime... that would be such a devastating blow to the outlook on our future. This is the guy we tanked an entire season for.

I think someone like Delon Wright is more realistic. No experience and they just signed Cory Joseph. We're not getting a proven guy without giving up more than we want to. The FO wants to keep this team together.

This is worst i can ever hear today. It will be tough him to make his potential now if its true he tears it!!!. He miss a full year and will lose his quickness. Probably worst news we can ever have about Exum. I don't want to be so negative cuz I like positive vibes, but it is so hard! I think Jazz will need to find a starter and exum will need to take a few years on the bench and hopefully it can get strength in the knees. :(

Don't you think maybe Dante can't even start for a few years? This is setback if true is HUGE. We need Jazz find starter for the next few years at least. Exum is too valuable to rush it.

I think you guys might be exaggerating the importance of Dante. He has great future potential, but currently, his ****ty offense is cancelled out by his good defense, so his effect is in the end neutral. Listening to some of you, you'd think Dante had been carrying the team.

Well he is part of the future. You think we can sit and sing together? What is this?

I agree but who takes his spot? I'm not a hater of Trey but I'm not sure he's what the 1st team needs. We need a facilitator and good defender, not a poor defender who at times isn't a pass first pg.

So who are good PG's in the next draft?

Is John Crotty available?

We ain't even sniffing the playoffs.

Why?

Dante was a minus guy last season. We should still be in the hunt for the 8th seed. We needed Dante to improve for us to have a shot 50+ wins.

If Dante reaches his potential, we can win titles. If he doesn't, we don't have much chance at that. I don't care how good he is right now, the kid has immense potential, and an ACL tear could seriously hamper that. I'm thinking about the big picture.

Why? Because Dante played a large role in us being a great defensive team. That's our identity. Replace him with Burke and we're still pretty good at defense, but we definitely regress.

a 5 star asset has just been changed to two star. We could not trade him for much. Even Dante Haters can be mad for this!= if you don't like him. Dante fans will not like it because he might not ever reach potential with this one. This is setback whichever side of the fence you can sit.

A number of people have said that "we're not making the playoffs now". As if Dante plays more than the tiniest role in the team's current successes. If he injured his ACL, then that really sucks, but it's not hopeless. First, it barely affects the Jazz' fortunes for next season. Second, he's very young and he's likely to recover by the following season, specially since he's not exactly the most explosive athlete, and all is needed from him is to use his length on D (as he had been doing), and improve his shooting and overall offensive game. On the plus side, him being set back a year is likely to decrease his value once it becomes time to resign him.

I for one never thought Exum would become some sort of superstar, and I was hoping he would become an above average PG. That's all we need to become championship contenders. We already have 3 players who are likely to be among the 20 best once they hit their prime. Not everyone needs to be an all star.

I wish Exum the best, but it's not the end of the world.

The Jazz and the doctors already know if it's an ACL or not. A Lachman test is easy to do and will show pretty darn conclusively if the ACL is severed or not. MRI is really only necessary if the test is inconclusive (minimal shift between tibia/femur). It's extremely painful to do it right now, but once it swells up to a grapefruit, all mobility to move the knee is lost.

Having torn my ACL in much the same way, it's time to start praying that Burke turns it on this year.

And I know we'd like to make the best of him being on the sideline, but I hobbled over to the sideline, put some ice on it and sat and watched the rest of my soccer game in the same manner. I will admit that it's a bit strange that he wouldn't be icing it and would have it simply wrapped.
